Re: DDB vs. Deuces Wild
I walk around the casino playing a $20 bill in each machine at max coin dollars. I walk immediately if I don't get a run over $50. I use $50 as my cash out low limit. I use $100 as my cash out high limit
But 99% of your play is quarters? I'm a bit confused.

I consider my regular play and my pot shot play to be two totally different games. Most of the time I play max coin quarters. Once I have gathered enough white tickets equal to the amount I walked into the casino with, I have the option of switching to pot shot play with whatever I have left. (I keep all quad deuces and royals) My pot shots are at the $1 or rarely the $5 denomination. By playing this way I practically never come home with empty pockets, which to me is the worst possible outcome. If you want to minimize this possibility, you must have low cash out limits and have the discipline to adhere to them. In my opinion, the biggest problem recreational players face is knowing when it's time to go home. Ask yourself what amount of winning does it take to get you to leave the casino... one quad deuce, two, three, four, a royal or two? Obviously this is a silly example, but it does illustrate my point. In video poker much of the gain is tied up in a few rare jackpots making it a game of losing most of the time. Using low cash out limits minimizes this effect. If you don't mind coming home broke, keep playing. If you only play 100% games perfectly there is no need for limits, or so they say...

Ah, there's the catch! Limit? I'm on 99.5. I should lose peanuts, if at all. Everything is swell in theory. Going home -$18 net after giving back $57 VP winnings. So much for my two JOB quads worth $44. Even when I win I lose. You stay, you pay. You return, you get burned.

On Saturday, we are off to Laughlin on yet another CET junket where we will have a very healthy diet of 98.91% deuces wild (3,5 or 10 play 25c), and 98.8% bonus deuces wild (50 play 5c).
Unfortunately, the healthy diet of deuces wild games did not translate into a healthy diet of the deuces themselves.
The trip started out great. Within 10 minutes of sitting down at a triple line 25c deuces wild machine, I hit the deuces. and shortly thereafter, my wife scored a non wild royal. And, not to be outdone, towards the end of the one hour session, I hit a no deuces royal as well.
But, that was the end of the real fun. At the 25c level, there were no more royals (no real surprise), but, for me, no more quad deuces either, in around 17,000 total hands played. I managed to eke out a $150 net win at that game.
The 5c fifty line deuces wild bonus was even worse. Despite many, many good hands, including three royals, about 10 quad deuces with ace, and several more quad deuces, the many prolonged dead periods wiped out all those good results. I finished down $1400 for the game, in 147640 total hands played ($36910 coinin).
At least, my results at Seneca Niagara on the way home were a lot better - but that's another story.
We're going back to Laughlin at the end of November, for another shot at those deuces.

Those are my two favorite games and sadly sometimes giving it one more try as you might, you just can't force them out. Glad you guys had the early hits though and hopefully the rest of the stay was nice.

My 99.54% diet still becomes yet more junk food by the time the casino has had its fun.

I think we need to get an honest food inspector down there to A/C to make sure there are no rodents or droppings lurking in those 99.54 machines keeping the quads to themselves and serving up bits of cracker crumbs and moldy cheese. Yuck. Sorry for ruining everyone's lunch. Just happened to hear a story about the above subject on 880 radio news today regarding NYC restaurants.

I did hit a $25 Caesars quad in two minutes on Sat. That bought me 25 minutes next door. Bally's brutal in my PM session; $60 loss. I'd rather risk my give backs on DW pot shots. More excitement and reward. Less play is an okay price.

I have found a new game at Foxwoods. In the Multi Strike menu, there is an option to play DDS. That means if you play regular deuces wild betting 5 quarters on each of the 4 lines you will get paid 16k for getting dealt quad deuces on the top line and get paid 32k for the same bet playing Bonus Deuces wild DDS. Even the smaller premium hits pay really big with a 16x multiplier after doubling for hits on the top line. Going up there tomorrow night to give it a shot. I think though I will just play a quarter a line on the 4 lines and not worry about hitting a royal dealt on DDS which long term only comes along every 700k hands or so. Even at a quarter a line, a hit on the top line after doubling would pay 3200 bucks for regular deuces wild and 6400 bucks for hitting the quad deuces with the Ace on the bonus deuces game.

Olds, the Multi Strike strategy is different from traditional VP strategy, especially on the bottom lines. Check it out before you dive in all the way.
