There are a number of reasons why someone would choose to play single coin VP. Video Poker for Winners software provides the correct strategy for all coin bets. A player playing a max coin 95% game badly can lose more money than a single coin player who plays accurately.DougJ wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 9:31 pmNot wanting to play crappy pay tables, I put $20 in a VP machine and played one quarter at a time, just to observe nearby players without looking like a stalker. It was a time waster in between dinner and the "La Reve" show. Holy Cow, watching folks play multi-line $25 a spin, and being totally clueless about holds. They were clearly the "graduates" of those South Point VP classes on how to play to "win".

So, you're suggesting that folks who take the time to attempt to learn how to play better actually play worse?

Wildman, i see the same parade of clueless players. Avoiding the urge to educate them because without them our plentiful good games would fade away. I did answer a question for a roulette player a while ago. Killing time watching the wheel i was blocking a chair and she asked me if i was going to play. I said no not this wheel. She very nicely asked me what i meant by that so i told her. The wheel she was approaching to play was an American wheel (0 &00). This wheel has 5.26% house advantage and was full except for one chair. About 30 feet away across the aisle was a European wheel (single 0 only) house advantage 2.63% with only two players. Her response was "oh i never win anything at that one" and sat down in the empty chair next to her friend. End result of this interaction, she was happy, and i had successfully wasted some time.
Bad players are very evident at all the games in the casino. Most have no clue what house advantage they face on their game of choice. most glaring case in point slot players. Bad 21 players are abundant as well maybe half using some semblance of basic strategy.
By the way, the mailers did not go out for the next slot tournament 11/24. Check with your host.

I wouldn't play the single 0 wheel either. Also, most single 0 wheel minimums are much much higher than the 00 wheel. I remember the first time I saw this at Bellagio. The 00 wheel minimums were $10 or $15. The 0 wheel minimum was $300!

Agree JS on not playing any wheel. I never have but sometimes watch. My example was at Soaring Eagle and am not sure on the mins. will check.

Sorry about the belated response. The single zero roulette has been paved over with new felt to match the new wheel with 0 & 00.
Good business decision i guess. If the players do not mind bucking a 5.26% vig. then why not?

There are still single zero roulette tables here in Vegas. What's hilarious to me is a photo I recently viewed on another gambling forums website: (maybe from the Plaza), where there is a totally empty single zero roulette table, no players, but the next table over with 0 and 00 is packed. I think it was $10 min at the single zero, versus $5.

Probably all were slot players taking a break. They do not concern themselves with house edge.DougJ wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 9:45 pmThere are still single zero roulette tables here in Vegas. 5.26% vig. is better than their regular game, but i doubt if they know that.
BTW i never would get into minor details such as that with a slot player. They pay 99% of the casinos income and the good games like VP and 21 would not be available without them. Bless their souls.
