Re: My Journey on Video Poker
Took another bath tonight as the vp gods show me once again who is boss. Couldn't hit the side of the barn playing .25c 10/6 DDB, -$680. It was not fun blanking again and again and again... and feeling the pinch of the bad side effects of playing a variant game like DDB.
I said earlier that if one can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Well...I"m getting out of the kitchen. I was fortunate to hit that royal earlier on fpdw or the hurt from DDB would be even worse.
At any rate, I'm likely to take a break and let my wounds heal and return at some point...likely a different game.

Dan do you play the same machine with all your play per session? Just wondering.
Usually play on the same machine, with occasional deviation. I'm a camper, not a bouncer. I don't hop from machine to machine. It's either going to give me lunch, or take me for lunch. I look for good lighting and good buttons and a clean screen, usually like to play on the end machines for whatever reason. That's it.

If we're not obsessed to denominations, we are obsessed with a certain game. The more we stray from low variant and cost games, the more we pay. You can crank out just as many hands on JOB, getting a similar adrenaline rush. And the cost will likely be at least 50% off. Now that's a bargain. I took a bath. You took a long sauna after yours. You stay, you pay. You stray, you pay.
You can crank out just as many hands on JOB, getting a similar adrenaline rush.
There is a big difference in the "experience" of playing DDB vs. Jacks or Better. I absolutely agree Jacks is kinder on your bankroll. I also agree DDB is probably unbeatable long term. As I recall, BobD stated as much in one of his books. However, Jacks is one of the most boring of all VP games. Hit the button, get two pair, hit the button and so on. There is a big reason DDB is the most popular VP game in the US, it's more exciting to play. Frankly, DDB has way too much variance for my taste, so I choose deuces wild. Playing Jacks or Better all day is not my idea of fun for the money even if it's more profitable in the long run. However, FAA's point is well taken. If you don't like losing a lot between wins, don't play DDB.

I should make my next visit Musical Jacks. Play each of the six bank machine for thirty minutes. Then off to lunch. It's simply an exercise to divert me from the dollar machines and certain doom.

Get some back this go around with .25c fpdw. Relatively quick session,
Maybe an hour since I was tired after a busy night of cinco de mayo at the casino where I work. Hit the deuces and called it at +$250.
Cheers
PS DDB can be great as long as your getting the hits. The cost is its variance of course...triple bonus even more so. But the variance monster has definitely caught up to me in that game, and I need to take a break from it.

Played another quick session of .25c single line fpdw tonight. Of course the goal is to hit the deuces, and I hit the deuces...22210s2...but forgot to take a pic of it. Sorry about that. +$150 for this one and onwards we go.
Cheers

Realized I will soon lose my headliner slot club status if I don't get in some points...so it's back to .25c bonus poker 8/5 with full points and multipliers. So far so bad as I earn $20 in cash back but dump -$200. Hopefully things improve because it's this game until I secure headliner.
Cheers

Good hit! You are catching up.
By the way, is it ok if I can call you Dan or something shorter of your preference?
