Re: Holiday Contest - Dream Card

webmaster, there have been comments on the chat that some of the golds dont like the non gold members playing.  i take offense to that since i am not a gold member..  i enjoy playing the contests and this website.  i have tried blocking out the chat line but even if i do that it comes back up.
thanks for letting me blow off steam .

I get tired of the complaining...I click off the chat because that is all they ever do and usually it is the same people. BTW on this contest, I've had my highest scores....maybe next contest I might even get in the top and stay there...lol

I also get a little tired of those who are Gold Members griping about not being on the boards.  As above, you can just click off the chat, but it comes back on when the game reloads.  For a while I was so annoyed with the negative comments that I just quit coming here to play.  So, I have two comments or if you wish questions:  Why not have a contest for just the Gold Members so that they may have nothing to gripe about for a single tournament?  Yes, there will be some griping from those who are not Gold, but it could be one of the "perks" for those members.  Also, since chat is one of the easiest and cheapest programs for a site, why don't you open it to all members ?  If these things have already been covered before just direct me to a discussion, but it isn't easy to go read all forums when one is trying to climb the leader boards!  I appreciate the site on a whole because I love my VP.

I've been a member here for a long time.  I doubt if I will ever join the Gold Club because of what I've seen on their chat with the constant griping and complaining about not being on the board because all of the freeloaders are...I just usually keep the chat closed so I don't have to put up with it.  Maybe if they would play the game and pay attention to their cards instead of constantly being on chat, they might be on the Leader Board more often.

I think the whole "gold vs non-gold" conversations are very funny.  Unfortunately, some people take it far too seriously.I think Webman needs to sticky something in regards to why no contests for gold members only.  He has said repeatedly that (in general terms) that such a contest would violate gaming laws.  In a nutshell, gold members pay to play (in addition to the benefits).  If you pay to play to win something...that's gambling.  And that's against the law.  Plain and simple.Yes, gold members do support the site monetarily.  As stated in this sticky their "contributions" help keep the site up and running.  However, based on some comments I've read, some gold members almost come off as it's their "right" to be a top-scorer because they pay $60 a year.  That's like being a slot club member at a casino and complaining because a non-slot club member hits a royal flush and you didn't.  Action Gaming is doing a terrific marketing effort here.  Players can test the newest games before they venture to a casino.  In retrospect, the players give Action invaluable information about new games and their playability.  If you want to pay $60 a year for the extended benefits, that is your personal choice.  But to pit the "haves" (members) against the "have nots" (non-members) is pretty juvenile....albeit amusing. If you are wondering...yes, I am NOT a Gold member.
