I had two short quads yesterday, which is plenty infuriating enough.
It's too bad there's not a solution to this "short coin" problem.

I thought there was a solution?

Solution: Betting and losing more en route to a possible windfall. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton.

Back in 2007 I was playing at the Hollywood Casino in Aurora, IL. I had already hit 3, 1k royals on the same machine. The 3rd one, there was a man playing next to me who had also just hit a royal. He looked at me with a quizzed look on his face, asking me why my royal paid 1k, while his only paid $62.50. I politely pointed out that he was betting the minimum, a single coin, while I was betting the max, 5 coins. He played for a few more minutes and then left the machine. I decided to jump over to his machine and within 10 minutes, I hit a 1k royal on the machine the guy just left.

Little did I know but, he was standing behind me watching me play "his machine." He said something to me along the lines of "that should have been HIS royal" and I told him it was a bad idea to get up from a machine and then watch when another player, plays it.

Just goes to show ya...

I always congratulate someone near me who hits a Royal or anything great for that matter. I have had people hit on machines I have left too. It all works out in the wash. Good Karma is good!

I’m not a get up and gawk player. But watching a $4K jackpot last week after leaving a machine 5 hours earlier was rather interesting to note.

Um, I know that everyone is different but what is interesting about a 4k jackpot? Especially when its someone else's and it hit 5 hours after you left the machine?

When I leave a machine, I flat out don't care what happens on it after I get up from it. I'm not a get up and grumble player.

If I ever do circle back that day, I’m curious to see how players fare. Jackpots are interesting for players who have never had one. It’s not exactly old hat.
