Do casinos know the payback % of video poker games on their floor.

With the turnover in staff do good vp games get forgot about , or do they always know the payback % of all there machines?

I don't think the turnover would effect the games.
A story I have heard recently is that on some of the older VP games, the machines defaulted to their original settings when they were turned on after being dormant. Several people claimed there was full pay DW on some machines until the casinos caught it.

Yes, I once saw a 9/7 TDB (25c, 50c, and $1) on one machine and I played on it and lost a bit. Next day it became 8/5.

It's 21st century, and they do know it.

As far as I know they are all preset to average a set % - they should know the average % but not each machine

The slot director SHOULD know. But not all slot directors are as diligent as others. Sometimes they just don't know a particular machine is there until they start getting a mess of W2Gs on them --- and then they look it up.

And, good to see you back Bill Ryan, sometimes it is turnover. When a new slot director comes on board, it takes a while to totally get up to speed on all 2000+ games in a place.

Another good time to find mistakes is during a grand opening. Especially if the new slot director was an assistant slot director previously and thought he knew more than he actually did.

On several occasions, I've had slot directors come up to me and say something like they didn't know how good a machine was until I showed interest in it. And when I did, they re-evaluated the situation and sometimes changed pay schedules. So even if I REALLY like a particular machine in a place, I play several others as well --- so as not to draw undue attention to the game I particularly lust after.

This happened at a casino here the first time they had a 3x points promo. The "pros" descended on the very good VP games and the casino took a hit. After that, all VP games were excluded from subsequent multiple point promos. Even the lousy games were excluded.

the casino can change the win % at any time it chooses, it can't change it while in play but while the machine is idol they can

It's a hit or miss, but the odds are always better in video poker than a random slot machine (IMO).

At the very least, the odds are known or can be calculated!
