Same Day turn around CA to Vegas
Has anyone here ever done same day turn around driving from CA to Vegas? If so, what has been your experience on playing video poker? would you do it again? contemplating a same day turn around trip. From CA it would take me over 3.5 hours.

I am getting up there in age. If I had a 3.5 hour drive to the casino, there is no way I would not be staying overnight. In fact, I live about 2 hours from Seneca Niagara, and I haven't ever gone there without staying overnight, nor do I contemplate ever doing so.

When I lived in Vegas, I did several one day trips to LA. Once for a Yankees-Angels game, once for an ELO concert and once just to pick up a friend flying in from the Middle East. It's not that bad if you don't hit traffic.Hotshooter wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 1:50 pmHas anyone here ever done same day turn around driving from CA to Vegas? That would be like me driving from the Detroit suburbs I'm in to Traverse City then back.

I did A/C a few times from the Ct shoreline. 4 1/2 hours each way with traffic. Not fun. Stayed in A/C about 6 hours. That was well over 30 years ago.

Since moving to AZ, I have made several 4 1/2 hour each way one day trips to take visitors to the Grand Canyon and back. Ok, not to a casino. However, I have done one day round trips to Tombstone and back. On one of these, we stopped at a casino south of Tucson for a few hours. I was over 60 and close to 70 on the last GC Round Trip. Bottom line, if you can and want to do so, why not.

Especially if you like to drive like I do. That said, I have never seen as many nuts on the road as recently. I attribute it to Covid syndrome, lack of teaching basic respect, and lack of enforcing traffic laws due to stretched resources. Last night was a full moon. Myself, my brother, and my sister all had close calls with maniac drivers. We all know what a full moon does on top of everything else. ,

More often than not, that is my routine. I think I posted this before. Four years ago, a large deer dove out of the woods into the front of my wife’s car half way between Mohegan and Foxwoods. She had stayed st Mohegan for my short trip thank goodness as the deer then rolled over the top of the car and a hoof broke the windshield on her side of the car. The poor animal was killed and her Sentra was totaled, but somehow I mustered the strength to pull back the frame that was up against the engine block, straightened out the partially broken fan, poured some quick seal into the badly leaking radiator, and tied the destroyed hood, grill, and remainder of the front end with bungee cords that I always carry. I limped the car back to the Mohegan garage and the next morning worked on it in the garage making it safer to drive the hour drive home. We made it ok, but alas, they totaled the car as the 6k in needed repairs exceeded the car’s value. The big guy upstairs watched out for us both and somehow convinced my wife to stay at Mohegan for my supposed hour trip to Foxwoods. Funny, the next morning I couldn’t budge the radiator support and frame that I had pulled back the night before. We’ve all read those stories on how people can have super human strength in a crisis situation. I guess that would have been the big guy upstairs too! By the way, that was in November prime mating season for these animals. The poor thing never even touched the road. One big leap from the woods right into the car just above bumper level.

Yes I remember the story . I rather take my chance with Bamby than with those lunatic drivers . even at the wee hours the lunatic drivers r still out there but a lot less of them ! Say your prayers before your trip , I think you already know that Olds !
