The attendant blabbed to another player at the end of the row about my run. I dislike gossipy attendants, but most of the attendants I have known are very professional, especially if the player with the run is a good tipper, as I am.
So the other player comes over to me and asks what my secret is. He is not having much luck and wants me to tell him something that will, by a wonderful miracle, completely turn things around for him.
I told him the truth: The averages do not lie. You can have a good day or even a good run, but over time your very best results will equal the average if you play perfectly.
Then he told me something that I hear quite a bit. He plays online at this and other online "fun" websites (vs. online actual betting websites.) He does much, much better playing here and at other "fun" websites than he does in the casinos.
I hear this a lot.
I told him that, in my experience, the reasons for this are two-fold.
----First, the online "fun" websites offer plenty of what I refer to as carnival games. Dream Card is a good example. The game greatly enhances your hands and because you are playing for free online, you do not face the financial penalty you would face in a real world casino. So when you play a single line game in the casino such as DDB or DW, you may have unrealistic expectations because of your experience with carnival games played for free online.
----Secondly, because the online "fun" websites offer free games, a player is much more likely to "swing for the fences" because he does not have any real money at stake. Do this enough online and you will lose sight of the need to play the hand exactly correctly, and your losses in the real-world casino will be painful.
My point is, if you are a casino regular, play here and elsewhere online with the exact same correct strategy you would play in the casino, and if you play a straight single hand poker game in the casino, do not expect carnival game results. Play casino VP games with the highest return possible, and take advantage of every promotion or comp. Most important, if you play here or at other online websites, always play the same games you play in casinos and practice perfect strategy always.
