MUSHROOM HUNTING
RFONLYMAMA was responding to a post about Prairie Meadows and I read MUSHROOM HUNTING! I remembered some wonderful times going into the woods and hunting for mushrooms. There was a short period of time when it seemed any place you went you could find mushrooms but that ended just as quickly as it began.
Growing up with parents that loved to mushroom hunt was not a bad thing. We would go nearly every day during the mushroom season and it was common to come back from our hunt with a couple of bags full of mushrooms.
I remember my grandfather taking all of us cousins (probably ten of us) out one Sunday afternoon. We went hunting and we were finding bags and bags of mushrooms. He would say let's go on and look over here. It was sure fun that year.
I hope you have some great memories of childhood like mine.

I think the big deal with mushrooms is they are so GOOD to EAT!

Smothered round steak, deep fried, in salads, on pizza....I can't think of much of any way I don't like them.In fact, didn't I see Rachel Ray use some of the really big ones grilled and substituted for bread buns?

So you don't roll'em or smoke them. Mike dried them and has them in a humidor! He takes them out only for select Jimmy Buffett and Joe Walsh concerts! Yes Mike, She used Portabellos.( and she smoked em'. on a grill, not a pipe!)
