Quick Quads Contest

Post by valden »

I played several times for this contest and never hit more than 5 quick quads and couldn't get higher than a 5,000 score. I cannot believe the scores and how high the qq score was. I was playing TDB. Are people holding three cards hoping to get a quick quad. For example 3,4,7. Most of my qq's came from holding  3 of a kind. It seems like such a long shot to hold three unlike cards and pray.  I had several opportunities to hold a true pair plus numbers that equaled that pair and never got a quick quad from it. How are you getting these high scores. I must really not know how to play. Valerie

Valerie,I have played quite a bit myself in the previous contest...not as much in this one.  I think in one round, I hit either 8 or 9 QQs last time.  This time, I think my max has been 4.But it happens!  Just like DEALT Royals or Q-Aces with a kicker.  That part is just very good LUCK.I have played with "optimized" strategy (okay, screwball strategy) trying to increase chances of getting a QQ at the expense of pretty much blowing away any chances of drawing a good hand.  It did not increase my percentages appreciably. But I could make a good "logical" case for holding weirdly such as you mentioned in your post.

Golly!  I actually have a personal high score better than someone else's! (6,700).

If you click on a player's name on the leaderboard a screen will come up showing their top hits in the session.  For the current top player, you'll see a dealt Royal and dealt Aces w/kicker.  In the same 200-deal session!  Nothing to do with playing a good or bad strategy - just luck of the draw, and at this point in the contest dealt nice hits like that are the only things that will get you up there.   Get enough players playing, and enough sessions, and that's what happens.  I think at the end of the last QQ's contest it took a 20K score to make the leaderboard.

So, don't worry about it.  Playing a good strategy hand-to-hand will help you if you're fortunate enough to be dealt some of those miracle hits, as points over and above what you get for the nice hits themselves.

My best QQ total in a session is 8 - I don't think playing a strategy geared towards hitting a lot of QQ's will help much in a 200-deal session.  Hasn't helped me, anyway.    As far as the current top score of 15 QQ's goes, probably the same thing as leaderboard points - the QQ's total leader was probably dealt 3-4 of them in one 200-deal session, each dealt QQ counting as 3 in the total.

Congrats to BillyG, the current leader!  Guy, go out and buy some lotto quick-picks this weekend.    If you don't believe in that stuff, let me know your address and I'll send you some bucks so you can buy some for me.

thanks for the replies. It makes me feel a little better. What do you do when you get a hand with four pictures, each a different suit and a 2. If I was playing regularly, I would hold the pictures and hope not to lose my money. But in this contest, would you throw them all away? So many hands I don't know what to hold...I have been holding an ace if nothing else, hoping for the four aces or a royal.

valden: i didn't have much luck either. i think my highest was around 7000-8000 and the best i got was 2 qq's. like you, i was playing tdb. the only memorable thing was i was dealt 4 3's with the kicker on all three hands but the other 199 hands were nothing to write home about.

Nor did I. Once WM posts the stats you can see the total number of sessions played and just how few people hit anything better than that. You must be like me and are saving the BIG sessions for real casinos.

First, congratulations to all of the top winners!  My best score was 6,735.

I'll follow shadowman's lead and say that I was intentionally burning off dead QQ play so that I'll be rolling in the clover when it hits the casinos here.
