Strategy in 50 or 100 play
Does basic video poker strategy change, in terms of what cards are held, if you are playing 50 or hundred play double double, and if so, how? It seems I'm taking awfully big losses (which may be the norm), but I want to know if i should alter my play.

The strategy does not change. However, the variance increases. This is primarily due to the importance of the dealt cards.
For example, 4RF occurs about every 2800 hands. But, that means you might play 280K hands or more before seeing the opportunity. Even more important is dealt winners and dealt trips. A dealt full house is worth more than a RF.

Shadowman,
How do I estimate/figure the decline in per cent payback when playing multiple hands. For example, there must be a bigger Risk of Ruin playing 100 hands versus 20 or 25 since each hand provides a long-term loss. If for example, I play NSUD @ 99.73 then there would seem to be a multiple effect of playing more hands. My long term experience tells me I stay in longer playing 15-25 hands versus 50-100 hands. But I sure like to play multiple versus single.

There is no decline in the payback. The payback of mulit-play is the same as single line. The higher variance simply means you will see bigger swings. Those can work for you just as easily as against you. In general, the risk of ruin is increased because of higher variance. But this happens on single line high variance games as well.
In any event, the statistical concept, called risk of ruin, of any negative game is 100%. OTOH, if what you meant was the risk of losing your session bankroll, then that is different and variance increases that risk while also increasing the opportunity to win the session.
As I mentioned earlier the value of the dealt cards is more important in multi-play. If you are playing nickel 100-play then you are investing $25 for each hand. On single line a session bankroll of $100-200 will normally be quite sufficent for nickel play. However, on 100-play a few bad deals could eat up that bankroll quickly. Therefore, you either need to increase your session bankroll or reduce the number of hands played if you want to be assured of playing for a prescribed length of time. For more info see:

Shadowman,
Thanks for your response and the link. I knew that somewhere I read that multi-play games had more volatility (variance) but I didn't know how to figure how much. This explains why playing 15-25 hands does not seem as volatile as 50-100 hands. I knew the payback didn't change and that I should use the same strategy. I have seen the people who play 50-100 play win big hits but loose great amounts as well.
Thanks again for all the expertise you and the others bring to us newbies. From what we have learned and the practice on freeslots.com, my wife and I have continually improved and have been very successful over the past two years. Even playing only a 15-20 hours a month we have managed to hit an average of 2.5 RF a month this year. We understand streaks and are prepared for them. But we can't think of a better way to spend our entertainment dollars.
