Big day at the Taj
Hello everyone,
I've been reading posts from this board for a few weeks now, but this is my 1st post. I wanted to share with you my day at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City a few days ago. I am a poker dealer at Showboat Casino and decided to play some VP after work. Little did I know what I was in for..
I usually play either DDB or Joker Poker 2-pair or better on Super Times Pay. (I know that JP isn't the best as far as expected return goes, but on STP, I've had great success.)
Anyway, I started out with 25-cent Joker Poker 5-hand Super Times Pay. In a little over an hour I hit 4 straight flushes (one was a 4X pay for $500), I got dealt a 4-of-a-kind on 8X pay with 5 hands for $800, and then to top it off, I got a 5-of-a-kind jackpot for $1000 about 15 minutes later.
I decided to play some 25-cent 5-hand DDB next. I was doing horrible for awhile losing about $200 or so, but I did finally hit quads on 8X pay for $500.
Finally, since I was ahead so much, I decided to play some 5-hand 50-cent Joker Poker on STP. On the 6th hand in I was dealt three 3's, and on the 4th hand up, I snagged the other 3 and the joker for a sweet $2000 jackpot!
All-in-all I walked away up about $4000 on that one trip. Definitely one to remember, and definitely one that I will not see for a long, long time!

Boopsahoy,
Yeah, me too! Especially when I am playing 5-hand (and occasionally I'll get bold enough to do the 10-hand on the quarters..) I couldn't imagine what a shock it would be to get an 8X or 10X multiplier with a jackpot DEALT to me! LOL
I had a close one a few months back though.. I was playing 5-hand quarters and had A-spades, Q-spades, K-spades, then the multiplier came up 10X.. my eyes were wide open and my heart was racing just thinking about the possibilities.. Of course, the other 2 cards were crap and the draw was too.. LOL

I get such a rush waiting for the rest of the cards! I hate when the are crapola! LOL Im not past 3play quarters DDB and DW and if winning 5play quarters DDB and DW. I saw some people playing 10 play 50 cent! They ahd like 4 handpays but Im not sure they were really winning LOL. The best i got dealt was the 4 deuces on DW no multiplier for $750.

STP is as much a slot machine as it is a VP machine. There is skill in holding the right cards, but it is just total luck of the draw as far as the multiplier goes. My really big win on STP was just lucky, that's all. I think the secret to a successful casino session is to stick to the games where skill can give you the most wins and then invest just a little bit of mad money in the "luck" games such as STP. I have seen players throw away thousands of dollars chasing STP dreams. My big win came on a bankroll of less than $400 in the STP machine ---- and as I said, it was pure luck, nothing else. It could have been an humble slot machine. On the other hand, on the games that require more skill (the BP,DBP,DDP family) I have consistently won much smaller amount, nothing like the STP big win, but it has been steady, and as we all know, those smaller wins do add up over time!!!

Just came back from a trip to the Taj playing STP .25 triple line DDB and 5 line DW. The woman next to me got the 4 ACES with the KICKER with the 5X multiplier for $2500. EXCITING to see it could really happen. My husband had 4 3's with the kicker dealt to him on 3 play but no multiplier!

We spent the weekend (sans Sunday afternoon and Monday) at AmeriStar in KC. VP kicked me Royally and I do not mean with "flushes!" I went through $200.00 in nickels with only two quads that I recall. No one around me at any of the nickel banks were hitting much of anything either. Thank God for Blackjack. It was good and kept me in the casino and away from the ATM!
We did stop at Isle of Capri on the way out of town. I plopped down at a bank of machines there and within an hour and a half had hit quad Sixes three times, quad Nines once and guad Jacks once. A lady sitting down a few machines from me hit quad 4's for 400 on DB and a few spins later, hit a Royal for 4,000. I personally do NOT like Isle of Capri but sure didn't mind ending the trip winning a little!

I had a bankroll of $5K for the holidays, determined to turn a 20% profit ($1K). First hour of first night out hit 3333A in DDB on $2 for $1.6K and then not 45 minutes later hit the exact same combo on $5 for $4K. At this point I was well over my profit goal with plenty of play scheduled. Fa La La La La.... La la la la would have gone home, or so he tells us. I came to have some fun, so I shelved my original bankroll and the profit and just played with the excessive profit. I never did as well as I did in the first 2 hours of the first night, but still had some memorable hits including (get this) quad jacks dealt on $5 followed ON THE NEXT HAND by quad queens drawn! I met my goal and had some fun. There were some frustrating moments, but overall....VP rocks!!!
