Trip report- not good, time to get back on track.
Sorry it took a while to report... I've now gotten my butt handed to me three Vegas trips in a row. And with good reason it turns out. I'm not a big bankroll gambler so it doesn't hurt that much on the budget. It just drives me crazy because I've done much better in the past.
No, the machines aren't being any more cruel than usual. Gamblers losing money is not a new thing and I'm not naive enough to believe that. What's changed a bit is my play habits. I've found myself with less time to play the past couple trips, which meant I increased my variance and denomination to utlize the same bankroll as previous trips, but in a shorter time.
"Go big or go home" has always been my first $100 strategy, but lately it seems to be my only strategy. And that's a bit of a problem.
Honesty time...
What's worse, playing DDB almost exclusively means I am playing a game that 1) exhausts a bankroll quickly if you don't hit a low quad 2) is a game that I have not practiced optimal strategy on enough. I'm sure I'm making some holds that emotionally seem better for those big hits, but are costing me chances down the road. If I'm going to play DDB, I really need to spend a few hours on VPW again because I've forgotten some of the trickier holds, yet I have been playing it any way. And not even on great pay tables because I seem to play when I'm running around. Ugh. Poor poor form.
I know my deuces, I should have stuck to my deuces until I made time to practice another game and play it well. I spent only $100 on Deuces this last trip, and it was at the Palms at full pay. I did better in that short time than the entire rest of the trip and should have reserved more of my bankroll for the good machines.
You all know I've been hoping for my first royal, but this is certianly no way of going about it. So, I'm going back to my deuces. And I will play deuces again and again on good pay tables until I hit my first royal flush. The decreased variance should allow me a lot more opportunities to hit it. This is my pledge to you all.

Look, I don't need any sympathy or hope in this thread. A simple "shame on you!" will do just fine.

Eduardo I hit 2 of my 4 royals playing deuces this past weekend. I have had more royals while playing deuces than any other game. I have also found that when I want to build up my credits deuces always seems to do it. Granted it does it slower than TDB if you hit a decent set of quads (2's/3's/4's) but it does the job. Good luck in CO. Ted.

One must always be careful about they ask for. There are simply too many willing to oblige.
I am, of course, very, very jealous that you got to go to Vegas and I didn't.

Yes, I forgot the most impotant part of all. The trip as a whole was very enjoyable. If anyone is into seafood I highly recommend RM Seafood at Mandalay Bay, just off the casino. I ate upstairs in the more formal dining area but I'm sure the downstairs casual dining is delightful as well.

There is no mercy here.
Eduardo, I've had runs of Vegas trips like that. Last year I only had one run of three consecutive losing sessions at the places here, which is a record for me on the good side.
But keep up the whining. It suits you, and makes you sound like a true VP veteran.

Hi Eduardo...
You're luck is sure to turn around. I won $100 on my last trip only after 2 miserable days of being down thousands of dollars and somehow miraculously making it all back in the waning hours before i departed. the trip before that was nasty. But, sooner than later, that elusive royal flush will be coming your way and probably when you least expect it!
You could always play at a lower denomination to get more play for your money as well! When is your next casino trip planned? We will pray to the VP gods before you go...
