Sharing thoughts / other people's methods
Hi everyone, I just want to say something because of the recent topics going around.
I have always tried to be very honest about my play here. I have talked about different betting strategies, such as spending my first $100 on Super Times each time to try and get lucky, then the rest of bankroll playing normal games to try and double my starting bankroll or go broke.
I also have admitted to playing games I don't understand well enough and on bad pay tables sometimes, and taking some big "gambles." Everyone has always been nothing but encouraging towards me to keep my head up, understanding that I can play how I want to. So far I have done quite well I think considering how I have played.
I am open to correction if I'm doing something poorly or stating something wrong and appreciate all of your responses over the past couple years. If I choose to play a certain way, nobody has ever encouraged me not to, knowing that sometimes these things can in fact pay off. I don't play as much as some people, and I accept the risks. But I understand those risks much better because of all of you. And the truth is, there are a lot of ways to play that are just more fun for some of us without sacrificing your expected returns.
I think this is true in almost all cases here. There are some people here who play bad pay tables all the time because of where they live. I haven't ever heard them criticized for it. They just need to understand that odds are against them and they always seem to know and accept that.
But then there are a few people who seem to not understand that people here are open to those things. Some people come here and try to push their opinion on other people and argue all the time. Every single one of these people is always talking about an idea from a certain someone who used to post here. Never anyone else, ever. I do think people respond more harshly when someone comes on here talking about something that guy talks about, but I also think it is for good reason. These people are always the same. The same as he was when he was here too. They never admit to being wrong even when the math is clearly presented for them. They aren't here to explore ideas or talk about how they play personally, they are here to argue and criticize people for how they play. They all see "AP Players" as some sort of enemy and think everyone envies Bob Dancer when really all most people care about is playing right by making the right holds (which Bob Dancer does teach well). These people are really sad and also annoying. Nobody else here has ever called names or called anyone or any theory dumb except when it comes to these people. The only person who has said something mean about me personally was bubba himself. So when I see other people here doing the same thing it makes me think he is the real problem and he only attracts people who are also that way. They never seem to listen to any of the, only criticize people for playing the way they want to and making the correct plays.
I think there is plenty of room here for people like rolanddude who plays a progression but what is annoying is when he starts challenging people that his idea is somehow superior to theirs. That is when it is annoying. We should all play the way we want to, learn from each other, but not be pushy. He was presented with different ways to understand his strategy but instead of being open to those explanations, he came back with criticism as if he must be right because of his sessions so far. Nobody else here does that. If you can show something mathematically with the game, that should always be a better learning tool than any one person talking about how they do. I appreciate the stories but I do not appreciate the insistence that he is right and lots of other people are wrong. People aren't ganging up here, they are just telling what the numbers actually say instead of personal opinion.
It always seems to go that way with this group of people who talk about this one person.
But for the rest of you thanks for letting me screw up when I do and for helping me to become a better player. I hope everyone feels okay sharing their stories and how they like to play because it's always fun to hear. I have learned a lot from all of you. I am almost back to even for my lifetime play (after that nasty streak) and I hope to get ahead on my next trip.

Nice musings from our resident philosopher, the great Eduardo. There's nothing wrong with discussing alternate strategies or play styles. If we all thought the same thing, there would be little value in sharing thoughts. In my view, there is a little bit wrong with refusing to learn, but that's a right I guess as long as you don't do direct harm to others. There's a bit more wrong with refusing to learn and denigrating those that wish to.And oej, I never thought you would resort to using just the primitive weapons when the heat is so near and available. You weren't really threatening Eduardo that you were about to use sticks and stones on him, were you?

Eduardo, I hardly knew ye. I hardly know most here on this here"boys club" ( no offense lady users but roland said that!) but have come to enjoy the opinions and tips from those who do play much more often than myself. Because I don't go often like roland, I've sustained some pretty good losses but amazingly, have balanced out pretty well considering what seems like more losing trips than winning ones. When you factor in RFB and come home with the same amount plus gas money, thats a winner to me!
Too bad Eduardo doesn't have access to the games like Webman does working with Action Gaming. OEJ, the warden doesn't like sticks and stones in the yard. They're good weapons and lethal too.

I think anyone who doesn't use ARTT strategy and "special plays" is a jerk and stupid....oops...what I meant to say is: Eduardo, you said it better than anyone on this board could. Thank you for your calm and accurate description of what takes place here. I believe most of us feel the same when it comes to this board and our play strategies. Thanks again Eduardo.

I missed out on something about buying a book? I know I didn't buy a copy because I can't read.
I am officially recasting my movie roles, Eduardo is now being played by Henry K i s s i n g e r.
And thank you webman for shutting down that "other" thread before we got another butt shot from you.
I too, much like Eduardo enjoy listening to other people's side of the arguement but not when they wrap it around a club and try to beat yoou like a baby seal in the Arctic tundra.
Back to the clubhouse...

Removing both new2vp and rolanddude's posts related to another closed topic. Carry on.
