Minnesota Casinos

My girlfriend wants to go up to Minnesota next weekend and check out some of the casinos there. Are they all dry and don't serve alcohol? This would be an issue for her and not me. How about any info on the bigger casinos, not so much the ones that have under 750 slots. Are there any close by to each other? The driving between casinos is not an issue as we will be driving up from Chicago anyway.

Anyone's input here will be appreciated.

If good video poker is your main objective then Hinckly Grand Casino is the BEST one around. they have hundreds of OEJ machines at all denoms and they pay. You can drink in certain areas of the casino (as I do) one being a room called the red willows with 25/50/$1 OEJ's and other VP, another is the aspen cove (high stakes), the bar (has many game kings in and around the "drinking zone".) Treasure Island in Red Wing is one that you can drink throughout the casino and has every game you could want and a very nice hotel and bowling alley. Mystic lake is dry so I do not go there, sorry. Millacs Grand Casino is the same family as Hinckly and has the OEJ's but it is dry.

All the casinos seem to be anywhere from 30mins - 1.5 hours away from each other.

Yup, OEJs is by far the best game (100.28%) except for an occasional progressive. MN compacts allow machines to pay up to 98%. The OEJs only got in because no one knew what they paid back in 1992 when they were installed. They are now grandfathered but only on the current inventory. The next best game is Double Aces and Faces at 97.97%.

I play at both Treasure Island (TI) and Grand Casino Hinckley (GCH). GCH has far more machines (IGT) but they are all coin-based. TI has TITO machines built by Atronic which have somewhat poor graphics. They are called "Two Jacks Wild".

TI is around 40 miles SE of the Twin Cities. GCH is about 75 miles North just off I-35. I can give you complete directions if you need them. I've been playing at these casinos since 1992 so I should be able to answer most of your questions.
