Smoke can be bad in some places but it's usually OK in the mornings. They have full pay BP (.25 triple play progressives) and JOB (.25 progressives). They also have a new non-smoking area. If you like deuces wild they also have full pay, however, they are slow and you only get half the points.
They have BP in dollars but I've never seen any JOB. They do have full pay DB in dollars.

Check out the Orelans. It's off the strip (but not too far at all), they have lots of machines (not the best VP), a bowling alley, a movie theater and lots of restaurants and it's still in the Boyd Family so you can use your B connected card there.

You can also try on the other side of the I-15. Texas Station, Arizona Charlies Decatur, the Rampart, Red Rock and Suncoast offer good VP. 15 mins or less from Main st Station.

We stay at Sam's whenevery we go to Vegas. Great variety of video poker and denominations. There's a bus to the strip or downtown from Sam's. We're going to try the Orleans next time we go, anyone have any other off strip recommendations?

From Sams, you can almost walk to Eastside Cannery,Skyline and Longhorn. Boulder Station an Arizona Charlies just to the north of there. That will keep you busy for a couple of days. Raceway, Barcelona and the original Cannery just to the East.

We prefer Red Rock to all the others in Vegas. If you fly in they have a shuttle to the casino from the airport. Great options, the latest VP and games, bowling alley, cinema, incredible pools, great food. If offers the best of the big casinos with less crowds and we have never had a smoking problem. They even have some of their 100% return VP in the non-smoking area.

Your initial question just reminded me of the ONE and only time I went to Sams town. It was around midnight on a rainy night and as I was walking from my car to the entrance, some nut in a truck was driving out of control, skidding his car throught the parking lot at insane speeds and I feared he was going to slam into my car. It continued for about 5 minutes.
Once inside, I lost. However, the parking lot experience will be with me for a lifetime.

Sam's Town is huge and has a super selection of VP and reel machines in all denoms. Lots of gray-hair action and doesn't appear to draw the rowdy 20-something crowd. Can get very smokey if cigarette or cigars bother you. Reg. rooms are standard. (I've not stayed but visited a friend staying.)
