MGM DETROIT VP tournament
The winner of $3000 first place at today's MGM Detroit's 6 minute VP DDB tournament had a score of 19,520! A 16000 RF and above average score on other hands would attain this. $1500 and $1000 were prizes for 2nd and 3rd place respectively. "All other winners receive FREEPLAY between $100 -500". The mailed invitation claimed $20,000 VP Tournament. Small print: "Prize pool based on number of participants".The tournament was well-organized. Registration from 11:00 - 6:00. Participant swiped a player's card at a special designated kiosk and received a paper with time and seat number. An extra $25 showed up on my players card as bonus which I believe was given to every entrant, although I did not see this written anywhere. This was also given at a previous tournament there and at another, a buffet voucher for upscale PALETTE. Winners were announced at 7:00 PM and one could call in for results, with a week to claim their prize.I enjoyed this tournament more than previous ones I entered at different casinos. Quad deuces was my best hand. My family loved the Ruben and turkey w onion relish paninis from Breeze on comps.Tournaments can be fun to try.

Marie,Faygo..Marie sounds like you had a good time @ the tourney...I love the breeze...My wife loves the Calzone's..Don't get the party hats out yet..I am a true Detroit sports fan good or bad.."LIONS" 13 games left for the Tiger's..(3)Cleveland, (6)Chisox's & (4)Twins...They just can't put anyone away..good pitching..scoring runs "scary"..Being in the race late September I'll take it...I have a quick funny story happened to me Saturday night..Playing DDB Dealt (3)4's hit the 4th..Yipee..next hand dealt (4) 10's two hands later dealt (4) 5's nice way to end the night. I have been dealt 4OAK before, but not like that..I'm sure I'll never see it again...I guess thats what keeps us playing..TTYL

Marie-Im jealous! Ive always wanted to be in a VP tournament but TheTaj rarely has them and when they do theyre during the week! Was it enjoyable? Did you follow any different strategy like going for the Royal more often?

Hi Boops, Tournaments probably sound more enticing than in actuality! Gamblers like them or NOT. Advice was: never mind losing time looking at the score, just focus on best play and to finish before the time is over. So when I hit deuces, I just kept going and realized later I did not notice if I hit that kicker. Go, go, go! Yes, you are supposed to be striving for that royal. That is what it takes to win, just as in these contests on vp.com. Respond immediately when you receive an invitation as they tend to fill up fast. They will only take so many on a wait list, if they even have a wait list. This I learned from a guy standing next to me who could not get into the tournament.I play fast and in the past have had time left over. So this time, I tried to slow down for theoretically better play and finished exactly at the end of the 6 minutes, cutting it too close! Next tournament, I will revert to my faster play. Um, would have been even more enjoyable had I placed anywhere!
