Carrying a lot of cash in casino question.
I'm thinking of upping my denomination (from .25 to $1) and am a little nervous about carrying my bankroll. How do you guys do this? I'm nervous enough carrying $200 now.
Do you use ATMs? The last time I tried to use a casino ATM they wanted $4-5 fee! I'm sure that there's been patrons that use casinos that have been followed and robbed. Prefer to avoid facing charges or surcharges. Thanks.

If you win a jackpot, casinos will give you a check. That helps in at least two ways, besides safety, you won't put it back.

Always keep your wallet in your front pocket. I then put my cell phone in the same pocket on top of my wallet and usually while walking on the casino floor, I'll keep my hand in my pocket as well.
Heard too many stories of people getting their wallets taken and these days, the con artists/thieves have really mastered their trade.
Regarding ATM fees, that's your choice. My bank rebates ALL atm fees so I don't have to worry about it.

I'm thinking of upping my denomination (from .25 to $1) and am a little nervous about carrying my bankroll. How do you guys do this? I cannot speak for the guys but I know where most of the gals keep large amounts of cash. I also carry a nylon square flat passport holder on a long cord around my neck. It's not noticeable under a turtle neck. My husband wears a normal looking belt that has a horizontal long zipper in back. Bills have to be folded length wise to fit in. It does not seem to work very well, at least there is not much $ in it when I've checked.I have been followed several times, not casino related. The scariest time was at night in Germany when I do not speak the language. Kleenex were the only thing in my coat pockets when I checked to see what I could use for a weapon. I vetoed walking down a dark, deserted street back to our hotel. I did not want to look back to let the guy know I was on to him. I believe I freaked us both out when I turned around abruptly to head back rapidly towards safety of stores, lights and people. He was so close we almost collided!Carrying a whistle helps give me confidence in parking structures. I've misplaced a LOUD shriek alarm I used to carry.

I usually have $4-6k on me for videopoker whenever I take a Vegas trip. I'm very comfortable carrying that amount in my left front pocket whether I'm wearing jeans or shorts; however, on a trip this past December I also had a sports betting bankroll of about 4k in addition to some large winning tickets to cash. There was a point where I had over $15k cash stuffed in my pockets and in my wife's purse, this was the only time I felt uncomfortable. You start looking to see if anyone is following you to the parking garage and on the road as well to the next stop.
On jackpots, most casinos will not offer you a cashier's check unless the jackpot is rather large, usually at least $10k. They will, however, offer you security to accompany you to your car if you ask. Under $10k in lieu of cash most casinos will offer you gaming vouchers, remember they want you to keep playing to get their money back and more.

You could option to wire money ahead to the casino cage and withdraw from your marker. I keep a small amount in my front pocket and a small amount in me fanny pack. If they take the fanny pack, I still have some left but my life isn't worth the money for sure!

I use AMEX Travelers Cheques. I get them in $500 denominations, so I don't have a lot of paperwork. I keep the receipts seperate from them, in case they are lifted. I find this acheives several things. I don't have to initially carry a lot of cash to Vegas, I don't use ATMs, and I only cash what I will gamble with at that time. I find it is easier to set a daily limit for myself for gaming. If I am lucky to win a couple of thousand in cash, most hotels have safes in the room, so I only carry as much as cash as I will gamble with that day, and put the rest in the safe. If I hit something big close to the end of a trip, I get a check for the winnings.

I use a check cashing card, can't remember the name but there are several and it will let you write checks up to a stupid crazy amount if you stay in good standing.
As for getting robbed in the parking lot, I keep two seperate loots. A small one in the front and the rest elsewhere, I don't keep money in my wallet.

When I go to a casino in Detroit I carry a long barrel .45 which I made to look like a walking cane. Has a nifty little button to push to fire. Not to worry, got a CCW for it. Faster than trying to draw my 9mm.
