hot /cold machines
You always here there is no such thing as a hot machines. Well i will take a hot machine any day of the week. You can play the odds all you want, but if the the machine is not hitting you will not win anything. Playing machines with great odds will keep your losses down if you play right.I play alot sddb and tdb. Ilike big odds on 4 of kind payouts. 2 weeks ago over in la. all the players that i know did not win anything on saturday. We all were in the tank. Sunday morning me and my wife got on a couple of hot machines. I hit 4 aces wwith a three for a 4000 credit win. I way playing 50 cents x 5 = 2000,within 80 more hands 4 aces with a 5 kicker 800 credits. 114 hands later hit 4- 3s with ace kicker for 800 credits. My wife plays sddb hit 4 aces and king kicker for a 1600 credit payout. To make along story stort we walked out of there with a 4600 dollar win for the trip. This has happen many times to us. When there hot you win if you play right.

The only difference of opinion I have is that it's the player that is hot and not the machine. Or, more precisely the player gets on a machine where his/her timing produces winning results.
Take something like the TV show "Wheel of Fortune". Is it the wheel that is hot when a players spins a big amount? Same holds for VP. Lots and lots of big winners are available on any machine at any time. Some days the players timing catches those winners, other days not so much.

Congratulations on your nice day!
Since the RNG's run constantly (even when machines are not being played), if you two had sat down to play that last morning a minute sooner or a minute later your results would have been different - perhaps better, perhaps about the same, perhaps worse. Depending on just how you'd define "hot" and "cold", over enough play you'll have runs that are good and bad. The runs are tied to your total amount of play, and not to specific machines.
I've kept records of my own play over hundreds of sessions. If I did a little thought experiment and imagined that I could go back and replay every single session at the same casino and machine where each session was actually played but starting each session a minute sooner or later, my results for each session would be different from what actually occurred in my original play. Sometimes better, sometimes worse, sometimes about the same. My specific good runs and dry spells would happen at different times but my overall numbers over all sessions would be the same.

Its all LUCK. Sure you need to make the best move but lets face it, some days you wonder why do I even play this game. Next day wham, couple of bonus quads and then youre temporarily on the hook again only to eventually lose. Unless you count all of these garbage gifts and such that they give you to entice you to the casino. Stuff that you wouldnt spend your $ on in the first place

What a great idea, brmcc74, for a forum topic: garbage gifts from casinos. What are some of the worst and most useless garbage gifts that you have dragged home from casinos?1.About the time GREEKTOWN ceased using their tokens and switched to TITO, they gave out a lovely, quality, black nylon bucket with strap handle and GT colorful flaming torches logo, for collecting those coins! It looks like a disguised and fancy horse's feed bag. Great, clean ideas for use would be welcome! I have already thought of a lamp jacket, insulating an ice bucket or handy in a stuck elevator.2.Both CD and I have very expensive sets of coasters, "free" from our respective casinos, MGM DETROIT in my case. We save them for special company since they are much too valuable for every day usage. 3.Windsor Caesar's gave out lovely crystal French Baccarat candy dishes that promptly flooded the eBay market at a fraction of their value.4.Motorcity gave out a super cheap socket wrench set that I donated to a charity, because no one in my family would take it. Ed has also donated at least one casino gift to charity.NICER casino past gifts include: fleece blanket that would be great for a car, lap or toes, but we use it for photo shoots. Shirts, jackets, luggage, base ball caps, brellie, picnic coolers, watch, drinking tumblers, telescoping fishing rod, car vac, car care kit, mugs, coffee warmers some w cig lighter cord, Coach bags, digital cameras, honey baked ham, pies, Valentine chocolates and gift certificates, ETC., name it!Billyjoe now has more TV sets than rooms and will soon have a TV set shipped from Vegas to a relative! What are the best gifts from casinos on your list?Jean Scott once wrote that they store casino gifts in their garage and allow guests to pick out their choice! Sounds like a good idea to me!Apologies to ravenbynight111: Changing a great forum topic mid stream is who we are and what we do best!

marie the ultimate I have ever received is a two foot high likeness of Donald Trump to be used as a wine caddy. I am so fortunate to have two of those in my attic.

Oh faygo, that is too funny! I am sure you are now the envy of forum members. I believe I saw that featured in House Beautiful or was it Architectural Digest! WHY am I thinking of an Elvis likeness on black velvet or large picture of Dogs Playing Poker?

ravenbynight111,
Congrats on the great hits. You're right it doesn't matter what the pay table if "you're hitting". We experienced a similar night recently. if you're down in south La. make sure you try L'Auberge du lac in Lake Charles. 99% return on their $VP including SDB.

How much did you say you're free coasters were, Marie? My set of four were $100 apiece. I'm thinking of putting them in a safety deposit box so they won't be stolen if my place is ever broken into. I also have a free Broncos sports watch that cost me $250 (available in local stores for $15). Some clear plastic Christmas tree ornaments with shredded cash inside. Barbeque utensils. Coffee mugs. My favorite is a black leather jacket from the local Mardi Gras, with their logo on it. Looked pretty spiffy in the promo mailer, so I went up and waited in line for an hour to get one. I think the leather was sprayed on. After about a week of wearing it while driving around, the friction of my seat belt rubbing against it wore that leather clean off. Got a nice commemorative football after the Broncos' first Super Bowl win.
I toss most of that stuff in kind of a junk box I've got. I should go through that sometime and post a complete list.
