Trip to Firekeepers

  My husband and I went to Firekeepers lastnight to meet our daughter and some of her friends for her birthday..........well the machines were not good to us at all, but the interesting thing was, we were getting ready to leave and we couldn't because there was a tornado warning and they made everyone get into the middle of the casino.  The TV's were on and we could see 3 swirling tonado's only about 5 miles from the casino.  My first thought was OMG I'll die in a casino!!!!!!!! The air condition went off and believe you me it got hotter than you know what real fast.. anyway the warning finally went off and we started to the door, stopped to say goodbye to our daughter who was playing craps and doing very very well and I'll be jiggered if we once again had to go to the center of the casino again!!! So we were finally able to leave around 2:30 am.........We expected to see some damage on our way home but didn't, could tell that it had rained alot..........the sirens had also come on here in our home town.... no damage anywhere which was good.... the way the Tv looked everyone was very lucky lastnight... could have been bad and I hope never to experience that again.!!!!!!  Just wanted to share this unusal night at the casino, wish I was telling everyone that we won big, but no such luck lastnight.

What an interesting experience and glad it worked out okay for you with no damage. Many other areas suffered severe damage with many trees down and damage to homes, especially near Dundee, Ann Arbor and Manchester. Police were asking people to stay away from Dundee unless they belonged there. My husband stayed up to listen to the tornado warnings. We have stopped near Dundee to visit that gigantic sporting goods store, CABELA'S. There is a similar store at Great Lakes Crossings, OUTDOOR WORLD. Both stores offer great scenes for photo shoot including bridge, stream, fish, and mounted big game animals. GANDER MOUNTAIN stores are also interesting.

we have been to Cabela's also, great store to spend the afternoon in.  My husband and son and his 2 boys are big in hunting.  There is a Gander Mt in Kalamazoo which is 35 miles from here so we go there quite often.  My 15 yr old grandson hunts but  also does compatition skeet shooting, so I visit these store to buy clay pigeons. Hunting and skeet shooting gets to be an expensive sport, but it keeps them out of trouble!

Cabella's had their roof torn off. They have announce that they are running on back up power and are open for business. They say they have plenty of supplies that the local people may need dealing with this tornado.  Estral Beach and Woodland beach located on the western shore of Lake Erie  near Monroe were also hit hard.
Last count 23,000 w/o power.

Ya, We were up on a fishing trip @ Lake Erie that night. They came thru with the trucks and loud tornado warning. The roach motel that we stayed at , they relocated the kids to a laundry room with no windows. Driving home we seen alot of debri in the fields but never a particular building damaged. Makes you wonder how far that debri traveled.
