streaks and oddities in v.p.

Post by chuck arl »

there have been some really odd streaks that have happened to me while playing v.p. most of these have happened while playing at the quarter level of play.

  royals-back to back one time
  4 of a kinds-4 in a row
full houses- 7 in a row
All of these happened in Las Vegas /Henderson.
Never heard of anything good happening on Indian casinos, riverboats or in Atlantic City et al.-----Charles Arlington------

These are pretty unlikely. Most of them will never happen to a gambler in their lifetime.

  royals-back to back one time

For JOB the odds are 1 in 40000 for each or 1 in 1,600,000,000

  4 of a kinds-4 in a row

1/423 ** 4 = 1 in 32,000,000,000

full houses- 7 in a row

1/87 ** 7 = 1 in 37,700,000,000,000

All of these happened in Las Vegas /Henderson.

Did you know that back-back RFs was the most likely?

I doubt your location has anything to do with these rare events.

I had back to back Royals at the former Treasure Bay in Biloxi, Mississippi in 2002. They had just paid me for the first Royal and the attendent and the witness were still standing there, waiting for me to clear the machine of the Royal and play my remaining credits. Up popped 3 to a Royal and I drew the other two. To say there was some excitement and some attention is the understatement of the year. Also..... there was some suspicion. While getting paid for the first Royal ($2,000 -- it was a .50 machine ) took only about 15 minutes, it was almost an hour before I got paid for the second Royal. Later, the attendant told me that the top casino manager on duty and several of his flunkies stood up in the security room and ran the tape back about 15 times in slow motion, trying to figure out if I had somehow cheated.

At the time, I thought this was a world-class, totally unique event. However, since then I have run into several others who have done the same thing, including one player who drew to a Royal and then was dealt a Royal on the next hand. Fa La La La La.... La la la la called his back-to-back Royals in Arizona at an Indian casino!

Also, I once had full house DEALT four times in a row in DDB. Analyze that, Shadowman!

Your wish is my command.

1/694 ** 4 = 1 in 232,000,000,000

I should note that these odds are for any given hand. For example, once you are dealt a FH then the odds are (1/694)**3 that you will get three more.

Nothing compared to the 1 in 37 trillion for Chuck's 7 straight FHs. But then a billion here, a billion there ... just round off for the federal gov't.

When I read the odds for your 7 straight FHs (1 in 37 trillion), I decided to check and see if you're due to be klonked by a meteorite so that I could put in my dibs on your stereo.  But you've still got a ways to go...1 in 182 trillion that your house will be hit.
