anyone go for it?
Hi all first post.
Yesterday I was dealt a King high straight flush. This was a dollar machine with about twenty bucks left out of 300. RF would have been 4K no progressive.
any one ever go for it?
I held it for the 250 and went on to hit 4's and 7's and cashed out 800
With Vegas coming next week the voices in my head were screaming for the 4K
Now I keep thinking would have it given it up.

Considering I never, ever see a sraight flush (much less dealt) I'm keeping it like you did. 250 isn't too shabby. Average return going for the royal in that situation is only 85. Nice when you get it, not so nice the 46 times you don't. Take the sure thing and keep playing.

It's one of those things that rarely comes up so it's not really a big deal, but where do you stop? Hold 3RF over 3oak? 2RF over a low pair? All of these things will eventually cost money.

Twice I have been dealt a full house on DDB with 3 AAA and xx went for it both times it worked once. That's about a crazy as I get.
The voices though are really hard to get out of your head.

I've always held the 3 aces in DDB when dealt a full house. That is correct strategy. Interestingly I've never hit 4 aces when doing this, but I don't play DDB very often.

I play DDB alot and always hold the 3 aces over the full house. I've hit the quad aces many times including with multipliers on supertimes pay games as well.

I've done it once at Harrahs NOLA. Got the dealt the heart straight flush. The progressive was so high (over $5,000 on a .50 machine) I went for it and sure enought I got it.
In all my years of poker that is the one and only time I can remember doing it. I'm sure its happend before but I blocked out all the ones I didn't get. Now I have had it opened ended and drew the 9 many times over the Ace. Those I remember

In deuces wild games, where a straight flush pays much less (usually, only 45 - 50 credits), throwing away a king high straight flush, and going for the royal, is the correct play.
