How do Progressive Banks Work

Post by Lucky Larry »

C and I have only played one bank of 8/5 DDB Progressive RF/AWAK machines (6) for our winning streak. (see previous VP Stories 4 for 4) We have no other experience with banks of linked Progressive machines. Our streak has led us to reflect about banks of progressives.

Do they normally hit as often as this bank seems to hit? 3 RF within a 2 hour period. AWAKS often hit multiple times within a few minutes or hours? Sometimes it is the same machine hitting the AWAKS. These multiple hits seem to hit right after the first progressive hit is made. is this normal? I don't think there is a software that triggers the RNG or is it just a increased probability that as the progressive gets higher more AWAKS/RF will be hit?

Questions we're pondering.

Any feedback is welcome.

I would say YES, it's possible for a bank of machines to have an increased probability of a royal hit on it as the progressive grows. But it has nothing to do with the rng. It would only happen if the machine got increasingly busy with players, or players changed strategy and took more chances to get a royal. Because of that, more opportunities at the royal = better odds of someone (not necessarily you) getting one.

One thing to consider is how many machines are tied into the progressive. They don't always have to be right next to each other (although they usually are). If you have 16 machines tied together the chances for hits are 16x greater when they are busy.

Eduardo,
I understand but the increased odds should be just for me!

So, if I understand your response with 6 machines tied together and all being played the chances are 6 times greater the RF or AWAK will be hit. If three are being played the chances are 3X correct?

That's right. Of course, the speed of play is also a factor.

shadowman,
Thanks for helping clarify. This bank is the only progressives we played so your explanation helps explain some of the multiple hits we see.
