Winning

Post by auntiebj »

I don't understand for the life of me why it's so hard to win.  It's not for money.  I play video poker for fun and relaxation and it's more frustrating than losing money in a real casino.  I can play 150 hands of a game and get maybe 3 4 of a kinds.  I don't get it.  Loosen up the game so it can be more enjoyable.  PLEASE.

This site is designed to allow people to practice and improve their playing under real casino conditions using Nevada rules.  Nevada rules require behavior for card games to be the same as if dealt by hand from a real deck of cards.  Videopoker machines of this type are not slot machines.  The manufacturer of the machine has no control over the  frequency of the cards dealt.  The expected payout  is controlled by adjusting the pay table, not the frequency of hands dealt.

Elsewhere on this site, the odds of getting 4 of a kind is listed as about 1 in 423.  So even if you are playing 150 hands of triple play of some type of draw poker with nothing wild, you would only expect on average to get about one 4 of a kind in 150 hands of triple play.

This type of videopoker machine is a Class 3 machine.  There are Class 2 machines that may look like a videopoker machine, but are really slot machines.  In a Class 2 machine, as in a slot machine, the random number generator determines an outcome.  Then a hand is concocted somehow that will give this payout.

Elsewhere on this formum you will see debated whether certain states other than Nevada have Class 3 or Class 2 machines that look like videopoker machines.  This is what the debate is about, whether the machines are really videopoker machines, or slot machines that try to look like videopoker machines.

I can play 150 hands of a game and get maybe 3 4 of a kinds.    Well, you must be winning somewhat then because the average frequency of getting 4 of a kind is once in every 410 hands or so. I know what you mean about not getting a decent score, though. Seems to me even the VP machines in the casinos, especially Vegas, just don't pay like they used to.
