unpaid VP jackpot

Post by WisT »

At a state casino, I won 7 handpays playing max bet on Dream Card poker.  They would reset the machine and give me a yellow receipt for each handpay.  A one point I had several receipts in my pockets.  As I went home, I found a jackpot receipt for $4000+ that was very likely not paid.  I phoned the casino but the casino says I was probably paid.  I doubt it because they ALWAYS ask for the receipt before the host and guard will pay.   The casino says they have a video of me being paid, but I say it is for a previous jackpot and their time stamp does not match the receipt.  I complained to the State Gaming Board and they are checking into it.  The controls seem loose because we can figure out what happened for sure.  Now the casino complains that the video and information may not be available now.  What I need to see is a video of a payout where no form was handed over.

Shouldn't need to rely on a video. They should show you the receipt that you signed when you handed over the yellow ticket when they came with the money,  plus they can show you the W2-G that was issued for the 4K.

I still have the unpaid yellow receipt and am 90% sure it was not paid.  I hit the same four-of-a-kind combination several times and that is common with 10 hand Dream Card Poker at $80 a spin.  It was crazy with all the jackpots in a short time.  I am a regular player and they should pay.  It is not my fault that they don't keep good records.  They took so long to investigate. Now, they say the machine records are gone.  A state trooper phoned me and now I am concerned what that means....

I had a smiliar issue, I hit a Royal at an indian reservation for around $5,200.  Later that evening when I did a count I felt I was a little short on what I had kept up in my mind about were I stood in terms of money. So I checked my w2 and sure enough it showed the JP was for only $4,200 which is exaclty what the bank of machines right across from me was up to.  So I was convinced the slot tech wrote down the progressive from the wrong bank,  either from the cage as you can see it from their or in her mind.  I dunno, so I called and asked about it for them to check the video tape.  They said they would and would call me back.  A week later I called again to ask about it and they said they don't have the tape anymore.

Then to boot another week goes by and out of the blue I get another w2 in the mail for $5,200 the correct amount.  So now I am short $1,000 and have two w2's.

Not suprising 2 weeks ago the FBI raided the casino for money laundering fraud as they were using casino revenue to line the pockets of certain groups to help win relection.

There is no W2-G form if this jackpot was not paid.  Besides, I won the same amount more than once.  They gave me a yellow copy (marker) and then probably forgot to pay me in the confusion of multiple wins.  If the casino had good records, they would match their white copies with the yellow copies collected from winners and be sure they reconcile.  It was a busy night and I was very tired.  I went home with a yellow marker receipt in my pocket.  I phoned them on my way home telling them I still had an unpaid jackpot.  They just shrugged it off.  What can I do to collect?

I have to post about this thread and some of the comments on here: How do you people make these mistakes? Unless you're just being showered with jackpots and money this seems totally impossible unless the players are drunk or just plain stupid. I've locked up 2 machines within a short period of time waiting for the first handpay and even a third while waiting for a second handpay. But, I have never, ever lost track of how much I was supposed to have been paid or been short paid on a jackpot. In addition, I have inspected every W2-g that I've received to make sure it's correct as well.

spxchrome correct me if I am wrong when they pay a jackpot they count the cash out to themselves first. then they count it out to you. I think when they count it out to me I would notice being shorted 1k
