Do VP machines play fair (renamed)

Post by Truth Teller »

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE:
The following is a personal commentary by user "Truth Teller"

Contrary to Shadowman's claims, which I have debunked in another sub-forum, VP is not fair, and we've all been had.

Even in Nevada, supposedly the place where there are strict regulations governing machines, an analysis of the regs reveals that the regs are written in such a way as to give programmers a lot of flexibility.

The regs require the following:

1.  At least a 75% payout, unless approved otherwise.

2.  All possible combinations can occur - notice please that this rule does not require all combinations to have an equal chance of occurring.

3.  All symbols in games such as VP that represent real gaming have an equal chance of occurring - notice please that this rule does not require combinations of symbols to have an equal chance of occurring.

Putting it a different way, just because all symbols must have an equal chance of "being dealt," doesn't mean all combinations must have an equal chance of "being dealt."

Please note that the key word, over and over, is combinations.

So how would we design a VP game that "cheats?"

Well, we have to make sure aces have the same chance as kings.
And we have to make sure that every possible hand can occur.
And we have to have a minimum payoff of 75%, unless we get approval to go lower.

And after that, we can pretty much do whatever we want.  For example, we don't have to make sure that every possible hand occurs equally...nothing in the regs requires this.

Nothing.

In my next post, I will explain exactly how to design a VP machine to not play fair.

You haven't rebuked a thing. Anyone who plays at all in casinos knows your 75% claim is wrong. For example, a dollar player who plays at a comfortable 600 hands/hr and only a 4 hours session would lose 25% of $12K or 3K per visit. They wouldn't play long at this rate and the casinos would be empty. I had a real bad streak earlier this year ... what was my payback during that streak? ... 98.5%.
You stated

"just because all symbols must have an equal chance of being dealt, doesn't mean all combinations must have an equal chance of being dealt."

However the regulations state specifically that they do. It's called 'random'. Why do you continue to ignore the exact words that deflate your argument?

That is in conflict with the part you stated, unless you only think the first card has to be random. There is no way that a straight could be avoided on the deal if each card has an equal chance in all positions. It will happen as often as the odds people say it will. The machine could not say "Okay, we have 4 to a straight now... let's give them a card that does not complete the straight for the last card, because I am in a cold streak."

Truth Teller,
While we try to encourage open discussion about video poker and various strategies, you have gone way beyond the bounds of discussion allowed on this forum and even made wild, unfounded accusations about this site, its members and associated companies.

I am removing the inflamatory statements made towards various companies and individual members but will leave this thread up for now since it was started before you went completely off track.

Congratulations on being the first member officially suspended from this site.
