coupon strategy

Post by WisT »

I have coupons good for $250 bonus per each new handpay.  My thought is to play $1 ten line triple double bonus poker ($50 each game).  Advice and thoughts appreciated.  Is it worth the effort and risks?

Can't answer your question unless you include information about pay schedules. Including $5 and $10 single-line games, what are all the relevant games and pay schedules at the casino you are talking about? Bob

The casino has the usual range of 14 different VP games 97% to 99.6% est.

I am starting to appreciate the problem.  I need to maximize the odds of getting to $1200 (or more). .

At $.25 units, I need to win 4800 units to get to $1200  (only a RF would work)
At $.50 units, I need to win 2400 units to get to $1200
At $1, I need to win 1200 credits
At $2, I need to win 600 credits
At $5 units, $25 per line, 10 lines, I need just 240 credits

It is clear that expensive games and multi-line  have more handpays.  For a $5 unit game at $25 per line, 10 lines it is $250 per game, the partial pay table is as follows:

4 kind  pays a minimum $1250 per line, so all I need is one
full house $225 per line
flush        $200 per line
straight    $100 per line
trips          $50 per line
two pair    $25 per line
pair           $25 per line

My numbers show that getting at handpay at $25 a line and 10 lines is about 1/35.
Here is why... here are the only ways...

getting a RF ending is 10/40,000  or  .0025%
getting a SF ending is 10/9150  or  .1093%
getting at least one 4K  10/423   or 2.364%
dealt FH, 10 lines is             .1441%
dealt Flush, 10 lines           .1967%
miscellaneous est.    .05%

So far we have 2.87% or once every 35 hands.  I guess that non-jackpot hands return about 50% [a separate problem] of my money.  So 35 plays x $250 is $8750.  But 50%? keeps getting recycled. So I estimated that $5000 will achieve the $250 bonus.  The average winning jackpot hand will likely be near $5000.  $250/$5000 is an extra 5% return.  That is achieveable in 1/4 hour or $1000/hour   That is my guess.

Your numbers indicate you're playing $5 Ten Play 9/8 TDB --- which is well over 100% even without this promotion. I'll pay a big finders fee if you can show me this game.   Keep in mind that TDB has a variance in excess of 90. On $5 Ten Play TDB, it is no trick at all to go through $20,000 in an hour. For many folks that would be a serious showstopper.  I'm going to address this question on the radio show tonight. Listen in at www.klav1230am.com 7-8 p.m. Pacific Time --- or I'll post a link to it tomorrow. Bob

This fellow is talking about a $250 bonus on a handpay of some kind and its still confusing. It doesnt appear he is looking to tackle the $5 ten play game, and if its really 9/8 then he should be in there playing it instead of wasting time on a forum.

No, this is a standard triple double bonus game that returns 98.154%.  Sorry for the confusion.  With a coupon bonus, it would be slightly above 100%.  The coupons had to be earned with a previous handpay.
