Gambling with an Edge --- June 14
This Thursday's guest will be Arnold Snyder, one of the all-time great gaming authors, talking about his book "Poker Tournament Formula." If we don't scare him off, he'll be back next week as well talking about "Poker Tournament Formula 2." Snyder's books are considered controversial by some players partly because they disagree with Dan Harrington's books, which are widely read and admired. Some of the questions we'll be asking Snyder will cover the points of disagreement between the authors. In the last 5 minutes of last week's show http://www.slot-machine-resource.com/po ... jbeen2.mp3 I mentioned a cheating incident that occurred in an invitational tournament I attended recently. We'll be talking to Snyder about how rampant cheating is at poker and how players should protect themselves against it. You'll probably follow this week's discussion a little better if you listen to the original. GWAE may be heard live Thursday evenings from 7-8 in Las Vegas on 1230 AM or from www.klav1230am.comfromanywhere. The shows are archived the next day on bobdancer.com. Bob, in addition to Video P, I also regularly play traditional poker (i.e. with cards) and tourney play makes up about 50% of my total action (cash games the other 50%) I've read Harrington's books (both on tourney play and cash games play) but I admit I've never read snyder. I will definitely be interested in hearing what he claims is wrong with harrington. What other Poker books do you suggest as required reading for serious poker players? I've read Brunson Super System, and Greenstein's book as well. What else should I look at?

I'm not a good guy to ask about which poker books to read. Poker is not my area of expertise. I've been in four tournaments in my life --- two of which were invitational. The hold'em books I've read are the ones written by guests on the radio show: Rodman, Duke, Miller, Negreanu, Bloch, and now Snyder. I'd love to get Harrington or Brunson on the radio show. (they certainly don't need my help to make their books bestsellers). Don't know if that's possible. Snyder believes his concept of "utility" is more useful than Harrington's "M." We'll talk about why on the air. Bob
