Doubling Up

Post by quadspecial »

If this has been asked before,  please forgive me.  Why did they (IGT, Casino, etc) do away with the double up feature on single line Game Kings? To be very frank, I'm a risk taker and my method of play was to never double a "gift" such as a dealt full house or flush, but almost always double (at least once) a 5-K 4OAK.  We used to call it "gathering play money" to try to hit premium hands.  The far right card "aka special" was a sure go to winner. In all seriousness  I do recognize the risk in doubling like the time I doubled and had to beat a 2 and picked a 2, only to realize that it was 4 2's and a 3 underneath.  * PUKE* always wondered if that was the next dealt hand...Now since double up has all but disappeared I've found it very difficult to win on single line machines, particularly playing .25.  I've had decent luck on .50 single lines and 3 to 10 line quarter, but do miss the opportunity to double up.   Thoughts, comments?  Thanks!!

If I am not mistaken, Quad, the "Double Up" is a feature that can be turned on or off. If you have a special machine that you play regularly, ask a tech if they can turn the feature on for you.

I have an odd follow up question.  If you were in a casino and hit say a royal flush for $4000 and somehow got excited and accidentally hit the double up button is there a way out of it?  Could you call a tech and explain and they could somehow back you out of that choice? (Not after you hit double up and made a choice of course)

Sara I accidentally hit the double up button once after getting quad aces with a kicker playing DDB. I called a slot attendant over and explained that I wouldn't knowingly make the mistake of attempting to double up on a $500.00 hit and a slot host was called over. The slot host said there was nothing they could do and I needed to play the double up feature out, I lost. I don't know if other people who made this error were able to get their error reversed but I was not.
