Java security?

I have been reading quite a bit lately about possible security issues with Java. As a result, I disabled it, then uninstalled. Unfortunately, as far as I know, I need it to run one of my favorite analyzer programs by the Wizard. Does anyone know if the security issues have been addressed and fixed properly?......As an aside, I had another ususual trip to Mohegan Sun yesterday. Went another 4.5 hours on JOB without a quad, which has been the norm rather than the execption lately. On a whim, and almost out of budget for the day, I walked by a Double Down Stud machine and played a few hands. The first hand nothing playing Deuces Wild. However, the next four hands were Wild Royal, Wild Royal, 5 of a kind, and Wild Royal. I know I will never repeat this again and the probability  must be as high as hitting the lottery especially since these are dealt hands. If anyone feels like doing the calculation on the probability of this, I would love to know or even posting the formula would be great too. Thanks!

norton emailed me to tell me i am protected but to make sure i install the most recently released oracle patch and running most updated version of java.

   I agree, Doris. If you keep your security up to date you should be alright. The Java patches aren't quite as simple as the MS updates. When you install the latest Java patch, you need to uninstall the older versions of Java.       Dave

I would suggest reading the article in Forbes from jan 12, 2013. Until this gets sorted out, I am going to hold off using Java for now.

   I subscribe to kimkomando so I don't miss any important patches. Have a green, yellow, red light on my browser, to keep me from going to questionable websites. I have my own access when I travel (Verizon), so I don't have to use public access. And of course, I keep my security up to date.   I have had no problems. You can take Java off your browser and open it when needed.     Dave
