My money management system. Great wins this trip!
We play video poker almost exclusively and our latest Las Vegas trip was no exception.I usually insist that we seek out only the places that have better paytables, and my wife always tires of this. So we mostly just played where we stayed or dined , or had show tickets.First day was uneventful, we played at the Quad, Harrahs, and Mirage. with little sucess and were about $200 down for the day.I have used a money management strategy for years. I start with quarter machines with a low variance such as bonus poker ,I start with $20 and always play max credits. should I have some good hits and get the total above $50 I will switch to a higher variance game , usually DD Bonus, and play in down to the original $20 hoping for a 4 of a kind . if not then back to the bonus poker. If I get the total over $100 then I switch to dollars, playing max.So were playing at the bartop at the Quad when the wive hit 4 Aces pn a triple bonus, and got a hand pay ( with w2g) for $1200. Then proceeded to get 2 quads for $600 each. before leaving that machine. We went to Wynn for Lunch on the second day, I was using my method, and was playing at the dollar level when I drew two cards to a royal, and hit it!!!My first ever $4000 royal, ( I had only 4 total ever, and all at the quarter level) What a rush.We played that evening at South Point where we had show tickets. This was one of the few chances I had to play full pay machines, and (using my method) we were $600 up for the evening as well.Incredibly, it got even better. On the last day we were playing at Harrahs early morning when my wife made it to the dollar level, and held only the J of hearts. and out popped another $4000 royal. We never have had one of those ever, and got 2 in the same trip. UnbelievableThen we went to Orleans for one of the best buffet values in town and played there as they have better paytables there as wellWouldn't you know it ...The wife gets 4 Aces with a kicker on DDB at $1 and .....another 2 grand. !!! after this hand pay .We needed a drink, and wouldn't you know , I looked over and she had run her machine up to over $1000 yet again. Too bad it was time to leave. We left town with $10, 300 more than we arrived with.( also with 4 W2g's) I couldn:t ever dream of doing this well . I am sure that it is a once in a lifetime thing. But I am sure we will be trying to do it again in a few months.

Great job !! Don't forget to get a Win/Loss Statement next year for 2013 from the casinos where you received W2Gs so you can support any applicable gaming losses come tax time.

congrats, this is truly a hot streak. It also reinforces what I have been harping about for a while, the blatant difference between different Video poker markets. I used to play a lot in Nevada, both vegas and reno, and I would have similar hot days, but even the cold days in Nevada still had a few highlights that prevented them from becoming total catastrophic disasters. NOT SO with Atlantic City...things are different here.....for one thing, it has been at least five years since either myself or anyone I know who plays in AC has had anything like the day you experienced......the absolute BEST days in AC would be merely considered Good or "OK" days in Vegas. And the worst, well, dont even ask.....the past 6 months for example, in AC have been so bad they are why I continue to call in question the whole situation with their machines. I keep meticulous records of my play, and when possible, the play of others......the numbers just do not make sense even with Variance and randomness taken into account. So we shall see when I journey to Vegas in the next couple months what results I find....one thing I am sure of, even my worst days in Vegas from years past were better than some of my "mediocre" days in AC recently. Something is definitely off with the AC VP market.....

Good results are not unattainable in AC. For example, couple of years ago (we don't visit AC very often), my wife had three royal flushes in two days, playing the 25c 3 line bonus poker progressive at Ballys. On that same trip, she had a royal flush on the 25c single line JOB progressive at Caesar's.

Yes, the one area in AC where the machines seem to be definitely on the up and up are the progressive machines, simply because a casino cant have a machine that clearly indicates when its last royal was to be rigged, it would stick out like a sore thumb if the jackpot consistently went into the stratosphere EVERYTIME before someone finally hit it....progressives in AC are one of the few machines I will play without too much qualm.....BUT, if you bother to notice or count, the number of progressive VP machines in the typical casino in AC is FAR less than most Nevada casinos, based on my experience. Either way, good for you, onemoretry, you may be lucky but the fact you chose the progressives to play indicates you are also GOOD as far as VP is concerned.

What a great trip! It's got nothing to do with the casino or the where it's at. We've had $14,000 days in Biloxi and they have the worst odds in America. When it's your turn, you win.... That's what keeps us playing.

Yeah, looking at VPFree, it's not that great, but it's still better than most casinos that have no local competition.

Actually, the odds in some of the smaller casinos are decent. The new Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville casino has 9/6 quarter jacks. The Beau Rivage is a beautiful hotel, but the odds are the worst we've seen anywhere with 7/5 Jacks & 7/5 DDB. Now thank's stinky...
