Dam I can hardly survive playing 9/7 TDB I can't imagine this game. But hey it don't matter much if they're hitting which paytable you play. So thumbs up, hope you came home with a little.

It's slightly better than 7/5 DDB...lol
But I'd play 5/4 TDB if I knew those hits were coming in that short of order...haha
I know everyone loves DDB, but they are so often some of the worst payouts casinos offer, it really sucks.
If you could find a 6/5 Super Aces Bonus Poker, or 6/5 Super Double Double Bonus machine scotty, those would be much better games to play. Both of those pay roughly 97.7%. Or shortplaying a 9/6 DDB dollar machine (97.83%).
But as said earlier, keep hitting like you are, paytables won't matter so much. Keep it up!

Vman,
I've seen several regulars who short play (less than 5 coin?) 5 hands of 9/6 Dbl Dbl and 7/5 Super Aces. They claim some really good payouts but I usually don't play either game much. Would you recommend considering this approach on those "slow", "not in the timing" nights?

I often look at it this way since I am poor (currently unemployed ) and generally hate tons of variance. Which way will make me lose the least per hour on average for what I want to play? In some cases that means to short play a higher denomination game because the games at the next lower denomination pay so much worse (assuming I am not wanting to play STP, which requires 6 credits, dammit). For example, if only 8/5 DDB exists at quarters (96.79% 5-coin), but if 9/6 DDB exists at dollars (97.83% 1-coin), I would strongly think about playing 1 single coin of the dollar game because I can't afford to play $5/hand.
But what you are describing is to play 5 hands at one credit each. I would only recommend this if you really, really have to play/enjoy multihand poker (or the machine forces you to play every hand). I am more indifferent about multihand poker, so I would rather play 1-hand at max credits at the better paytable than 5 hands at 1 credit each. When I play multihand poker, it's often on a penny machine (with STP preferably), but I'll play 5c/6c per hand for 10 or less hands. I'll never play all hands of 50-hand machine for a penny per hand. I had a dealt royal, which came on a 100-play w/STP. I would have been kicking myself if I was playing 100 lines at a penny each. I kick myself enough for just playing 6 lines at 6c each at the time...100 lines at 1c vs. 6 lines at 6c pay roughly the same for a dealt Royal.
Also from a general variance perspective, depending on the game played, 5-line at 1 credit each may or may not be lower variance than 1-line at max bet. For most games, it will be a bit of variance decrease though. I still prefer max credits, less hands though if I am wagering the same amt of cash. Partly because if I hit the Royal when playing short, I expect to kick the hell out of myself. If that happens at the Vegas strip bars, then I'll be more likely to accept it though because I shortplay those machines for faster drink service!

Vman,
Thanks for the response. While I concur that max even at a lower denomination is preferable, consider the following about short-play:
1) RF come so infrequently (1:40K +/-) that you rarely give up the RF pay off. Generally only the RF is greater for full pay than the multiple.
2) Playing Multi-hand (MH) 50x1 or 100x1 reduces the risk and can give you some great hits.
3) High volatilty games such as Super Aces/TDB with big top hits can be played short with wonderful results and smaller risk of losing your bank roll. 4- 2's, 3's, 4's w/K on TDB pays 400:1 the same as AWAK or RF but they come more frequently.
4) Taking a dealt 4 deuces for 200K @ 5¢ =$1K or more if playing DW B/Dbl B DW; no "G" Taking AWAK TDB 100x1 but would be a rare hit.
I know several regulars who only play 100x1 Dbl B DW, SA or TDB. Any dealt top hand results in a great payout. Generally, we also only play short play when our timing on full-pay is not in sync. (We still smile at Sweet C's dealt 50x1 TDB 2's w/k and her dealt TDB Awak. Both times she had less than $20 in the machine.)
Maybe its because we are so "addicted" to gambling that even 100x1 is more fun than not playing....
The regulars at Lake Charles Isle frequently joke that the Lake Charles Chapter of GA meets in the back video poker room! Sounds like a logical place to us. BTW: When we show up late for the meetings the regulars are already on a machine. Yes I understand that "gambling addiction" is an incredibly serious issue for many. My thoughts and prayers are with them. But, I can also tell you that the regulars we play with help each other when we need to take a break or have played too much. One of the benefits of playing with regulars who become friends.

OMG! Just got dealt this after discussing it on the forum.
Not sure if its a premonition of things to come
or punishment for practicing playing 100x1 TDB
Ok, so I'd rather have been playing 20 x5
