It Pays to Know the Right People

Post by Lucky Larry »

Kudos to the Slot Tech and IT department at Isle for their responsiveness.

Several months ago Isle installed new WMS software. The new system has created huge headaches and worse for many of the VP machines. Many of the older VP machines wouldn't download comped play or weekly bonus play. One of the major issues was also that the max download from bonus play was $20.00 per operation regardless of how much play you had in your account. To download a $100 would require 5 separate actions of entering you Pin #, exiting the system, and then re-entering your Pin #. Each sequence might take up to a minute or more.

We always make it a point to develop personal relationships with the casino staff, especially the pay attendants and slot techs. This has paid incredible dividends when a button breaks, a ticket sticks, we need sound turned down or we need a machine shut down and reserved for dinner.

So, heres the story.

Around 10:00 pm, Monday Sweet C "fried" her machine by trying to download her bonus play money and play a hand while the download was occurring. John S, the Director of Tech operations even came by to assist the slot tech since no one had seen the "Disabled by Host" message. During our conversation about the message, I took the opportunity to discuss with John the need to alter the system to allow greater single downloads. John, stated he would check into getting the max limit moved to a max $100 on multi-line machines. Imagine our surprise when the next day downloads were altered to max $100 download per action. Yahoo!!!!!

The original slot tech even came by Tuesday to notify us of the change that John had requested and gotten made by IT early the next morning.
Wow! This issue had been discussed by many of us with casino staff, hosts, and even the the casino director of operations over the past few months.

Just proves again the old adage about, "it pays to know the right people". Why worry about the Casino GM, or Director of Operations its always the lower level people who get things done!

Thanks again, John S, Isle slot techs and the IT department.

LL and Sweet C
