having trouble with either game or contest chat

It is 7:33 p.m. and so far, I have not seen any chat on either site. I type something in and hit the button and nothing comes up. Am I doing something wrong

Just to be clear, yYou are typing in the box below the chat window and hitting "send," then not seeing your own words appear above in the chat?Are you seeing other people chatting?

No and yes..it was at least 45 minutes after that suddenly a chat came up, but then the site goes blank and it reboots itself. I was hitting the right button, but, I did not see any conversation at all on either site. Finally, I was able to post and I picked up one friend. Maybe everyone was just gone for the evening.
