Host &Hotel Resevation&People that clean around VP

Post by sam434343 »

Olds442jetaway, Well trying to get two nights at Foxwoods near end of month, so call Hotel Reservation well they have some big going(Poker contest 2 week and some other convention)) on that week can only get me one night free all rooms booked up, they said call back try see if they have cancellation, Well I tell you this story reason? Well have called back at least 5 times, when talk to Hotel Resv. cut & dry no rooms one did say try local place to stay. Now on two of these calls got two different hostess it was like night and day, where sorry all rooms book up and went over all my play and what they(casino)was giving me on these two days, what level of gamble I do ect.ect. It showed me took time to look into my play/me. One(Hostess) lady was from your casino Mohegan(think said over ten years now at Foxwoods)) told her would talk about her on video poker.com she said ok, Julie J. very nice lady. I went on to tell her about problem I had last visit, and the cleaning lady trying to reach in between and clean up glass or napkin, only two VP machines and wife sitting in other seat, very annoying, it slows me down on my play, I mean she almost touching my deal hand/arm, kinda piss me off, my thinking is does casino pay them to distract VP players(lol) I told Julie J. the hostess the whole story, she like you are not the only one there are a number(a lot) of other people who have complained about this. Julie J. said next time happens try get one slot attendants people to come over tell them about it and they will talk with cleaning people to stay away from you.(lol) It was like she new exactly what I was talking about! Olds442jetaway she generally works 12 to 8pm very nice over phone you might know her(Julie J.) from Mohegan. I like to play not be distracted.(lol) Sam

sam I don't like to be distracted either when I play. If a cleaning person comes around me I will stop playing until they finish near me and they move on.

What is more distracting to you.....to play on a dirty machine with empty cups and glasses and overflowing ashtrays....or to smile nicely and wait for just a few minutes while someone earning a low wage tries to keep your area clean for you? Did you even say, "Thanks, Evalina, for cleaning up my machine?" Oh, right, you don't even know her name......

No one likes road construction, either, but boy, they sure like smooth, freshly-paved four-lane highways!!

Sam. Ted and rascal. You all raise good points. Before TITO, I had money in buckets stolen a couple times because I was so focused on my game and careless about surroundings. This makes me suspicious of anyone coming close to my machine. I hug my purse more tightly until they leave and pay less attention to my machine. This is especially true if I have a considerable amount of wins on the machine or have had hand pays recently. Assume others noticed your wins!  I realize wait personnel are probably not making very much money. However, they should not be taking beverages away that are half full without asking. This has happened too many times. Their superiors should train them better. Once they handle my glass after handling many other used glasses, I do not want that drink back. A simple "Are you through with that drink?" would suffice.

I also found by being kind to them, if you need a drink person or an attendant they will track one down for you.

It is a thankless job and I have learned to stop playing, take a deep breath, try to say something nice to them,  and get back in a rhythm once they have left.  If you are in the middle of a good run it is kind of a bummer.  Like all of video poker, its all about timing isn't it?

I mentioned that I stop playing and let the cleaning person do their thing. I also usually give them a few bucks because I know that they have just about the most thankless job in the casino.

When I approach a machine that I want to play I take all of the ashtrays that may be around it for a nice little walk away from the machine. This way if a smoker does come up to play near me then they have to scout around for an ashtray.

I see everyone's point here. Now I bring wipes with me to clean up my machine a little and get rid of the clutter before I start playing. I hate to say it, but some vp players are just pigs and leave piles of ashes and butts right on the machines. Anyone who does that needs to have them dumped right on their head. They also have no idea what basic hygiene is either. That said, I have had the cleaning people reach in and bump me several times and never even an excuse me. But worse than that, recently while the wife and I were playing, they started vacuming right under our feet and the cord was all tangled up under out chairs too. Then when they finally moved over, they placed the vac so the exhaust went right into our faces. Never mind the shrill noise. At that point, I had to say something. Of course the person spoke no English and I had to get someone to have them move the machine etc. I don't know why, but the problem seems worse at Foxwoods than Mohegan. Maybe some of them are Mohegan Sun plants..lol...Yes it is a thankless job, but they always seem to be there just when your machine has gotten hot for a couple of minutes.

Funny Sam, I was just talking to a Foxwoods Host seconds before I read your post. I was trying to get a comp room too, since my rate is 159- due to my limited play there etc. I explained to them about my situation at Mohegan and how I want to switch over to Foxwoods. I thought they might comp the off peak room based on my play at Mohegan which could easily be verified, but no dice. I even offered to book the room at the current rate and see if it could be comped after a long session of play for 8 hours or so with 5 to 10 grand cycled through the machine. They couldn't give me an approximate number on what average bet and lenght on time I would need for this so I gave up for now. I may have to book the room at Mohegan, play at Foxwoods and see if they offer anything roomwise when I am done. That isn't my first choice, but it may be my only one for now.

Olds442jetaway, LOL! Yes to your first post. Sorry me not God!(lol) Many decades ago I was foreman for cleaning crew of six $6hr. I cleaned both men and all woman's bathrooms talk about crap(all over toilets) yes cleaned that up to, hmmmm! did I ever get a tip no! Did for year and half, people have choices in this world or you can make up reason why you do what you(job) do. Also many decades ago had job where had badge(was rent a cop(security officer)(lol) and directed traffic was given the finger called a fy f this and all kinds of other things because people held up because of construction. But you know what I don't like it when there doing construction either, and I have been on both sides of the street. I remember when Foxwoods had bathroom attendants many years ago, and they would hand you a cleaning towel to wipe your hands, and I tipped these people. I tip the waitress, the slot people that hand pay me, and have in the past have even tipped cleaning people, but no more they annoy me to much(its been building up), Rascal if you want send me some money so I can tip them I am fine with that! Spending your money!!(lol)Olds442jetaway it might have to do with the limited amount of rooms they have this month? But just guess when you start playing here more often you will get free rooms, Julie J.(hostess) was very helpful and nice if you talk to her, good luck.Sam
