Things I heard in the casino this weekend...

Post by roveer »

I've read a couple of posts about things folks have said in the casinos and this weekend I heard a few myself. 1.  Lady at the same row I was sitting in hit a 4-5k jackpot and the first words out of her mouth were $@#!  Now I have to pay $#%#$^ taxes.  Sat there mad as hell that her jackpot was going to be W2G.  Having just seen a post concerning angry winners, I had to chuckle when I heard this. 2.  Husband and wife sitting next to me playing quarter multi-hand when the husband asks the wife for some more money and the wife replies "do you want my social security".  While this hit me like a ton of bricks, I guess its very common for older folks.  For whatever reason it hit me like buying liquor with foodstamps. 3.  Probably the most downbeat gambler I've come across.  Husband and wife (the SS gang) and the husband was a critiquer.  Had something to say about every hand.  Also had something to say about the play at other machines.  When I first sat down he was playing the machine next to me critiquing away, then he told his wife to "take over" and then demanded "dont' you lose that hundred".  Then he went on to critique his wifes play like it was a horse race.  Everything negative.  Guy next to him hits for 5k and he starts complaining, this machine is no good, that machine has hit 5 times in an hour, this game is not good, that game is better, then the real gem, everyone here has had a win, but not me.  We are the only ones that haven't had a jacpot.  Every word out of his mouth was negative.  The funny thing is, he wasn't angry, he was just negative.  I felt like saying, sir, the machines know when you don't like them and wont pay you if you keep talking like that.  There's no fun in negative gambling.  I'm a true believer in that.  When I gamble in a bad, down, angry mood, nothing good ever happens. 4.  Whoa, that bad hands I saw people holding.  Don't know if it was because of the holiday weekend bringing out the less englithened players, but boy oh boy did I see some bad play.  I've said it before, I guess thats what I looked like when I first started playing, but wow.  Lots of people playing DDB (guess they look at the payouts and see the high numbers for the quads) then go about holding all kinds of things with aces etc.  Sometimes I just want to say, do you have an ipad, you need to get the app and practice, but you never know the response you'll get so I pretty much keep my mouth shut.  I've come to look at it this way.  Those folks seed the machines with the cash I hope to pull back out.  If not for them I wouldn't see a lot of the jackpots that I do, so keep on playing poorly... Roveer

amen!

i think we all come across interesting people on every trip :)

i had a gem this weekend if i may share;

younger couple behind - man is playing, woman is standing behind him just talking away with one of those loud conversation voices where you could hear her 30 feet away clear as day over all of the machines.

so she is talking about writing a song or something - but she cant tell him about it yet - then agrees to tell him about it - then agrees to start singing it for him (and all of us). mind you, i didnt hear a word from him - she carried the entire conversation with a "like" and a "totally" after every other word. finally after about 10 seconds of a terrible song / terrible voice, the woman right next to them pipes up and says - excuse me, could you please stop. the singing girl replies, oh im sorry - am i bothering you? the older woman replies - , yes and im pretty sure your annoying everyone here.

i looked around as did everyone in the bank - and while nobody said anything, there were smirks and head nods all around.

as the Fa La La La La.... La la la la looked around, she tried to come up with something but to no avail - her man just staring down obviously embarrassed.

you never know what you will encounter at the casino - but its usually a good story!

I know this couple, was playing next to them on Saturday, that guy is horrible, as you said the most negative person I've ever come across.  They are the kiss of death, those two.  Everytime someone hit a jackpot (including myself), he would go on and on about how they were probably still down $ for the day!  Ugh, I had to change machines to get away from them.

Oh wait, I finally remembered the one I really wanted to post about.

I got FARTED on!!! Literally...

I was sitting at a machine and an older guy sat next to me. I lit up one of my cigarettes and after a minute or two I got the look. Mind you, I only smoke in the smoking allowed sections of the casino's and when I can I always blow the smoke away from anyone in close proximity and even go as far as to moderate my smoking when it is super crowded. But noooo...

So this guy, see's that I'm smoking and is not happy, so he basically lifts up his left buttock and after a few seconds, what I smell is not remotely like cigarette smoke. He frigg'n farted on me. Guess he thought that was his revenge for my smoke. I was thinking about saying something, but what if I were totally wrong and it was just some passed gas and had nothing to do with me. I kept my mouth shut and lit another cigarette...

and then there are the "Maestros" (they raise their hand about 2 feet up, then slam the button, back up - and down - up, and down).

LOL, Scotty.   One time, I leaned over and said " I am new to playing video poker.  Will that help my game if I hit the buttons like that?"

This is pre vp days....Wife and I (newlyweds at the time) were at the old Playboy Casino in AC. There was a real true bag lady wandering around. I just happened to find a white chip on the floor and gave it to her saying " excuse me, you must have dropped this". Watched her slowly walk up to a half empty craps table. Placed the chip on number 12. The shooter proceeded to roll 4 consecutive 12s. She took hers down after 2 hits. One of the players let theirs ride for 3. Everyone took theirs down at that point. Nobody could believe it when the 4th 12 hit. I will never see that again. That is for sure.
