Where to stay in Vegas

Post by ko king »

My wife is wanting to take mother-in-law to Vegas this November and she's having trouble picking a hotel. The problem is we've never been before and my mother-in-law doesn't get around well so they want to stay kind of in the middle of the strip. Any suggestions would be appreciated as they want a nice hotel and catch a few shows without having to catch a taxi up and down the strip.

I find Caesars to be an ideal location on the Strip. You have Mirage on one side and Bellagio on the other.

Of course, it also depends on your price point. Harrahs, across the street from Mirage, would be cheaper, but the rooms would not be as nice.

For cheaper price points, quad and flaningo would fit this bill.

We have no complaints about any place we have stayed in Vegas. However, we so enjoy staying at PARIS and it's great restaurants and location on the strip. No need to go outside to get to Bally's. We greedily wish we could win more, most everywhere we play VP. I notice Bill's Gamblin' Hall, on the corner, next to Flamingo, is closed for renovations and will open 2014 under a new name. I was going to suggest catching the Big Elvis (Pete Vallee)  free lounge act there. He has lost half his weight. I wonder where he is performing now. A shuttle bus behind Harrah's will get you to Rio and back.

He is at the Piano Bar in Harrah's.

If he is still as good as he was back in the good old Barbary Coast days, he is well worth seeing.

Orleans has great room prices and free shuttle to the strip.

We also like Paris the most.  Its easy to find your way around in the casino.  There is also a short walkway over to Bally's for a change of scenery for both gaming and restaurants.  We also like the fact that if we have a rent car, which we do half the time, its easy to get in and out without having to hassle with valet service.
