What is the liklihood of Casino cheating at VP?

Post by chucknorris5 »

I am a long time video poker player who primarily plays jacks or better or NSU deuces wild when I can find the machines. I play at the new Cincinnati Horseshoe and also at Southern Indiana. Harrah's in Southern Indiana has recently added new machines which don't pay out as much as they used to despite the fact that the pay tables remain the same. Has anyone else observed a similar situation with Harrah's elsewhere or am I just on a losing streak?

If I were a betting man I would bet against the likelihood that there is something amiss with the machines.

Seems like a trend nationwide since 2010. I hope this is just the end of a short run of bad luck and short term is not approaching infinity. To top it off my worst returns are with 9/6 job.

9/6 job, 15/9/4/4/ Deuces wild, Deuces wild DD stud, Multi-Strike Bonus Deuces Wild 20/9, 17/7 Joker Kings, Bonus Deuces Wild spin poker, Former favorite that they removed was 8/5 Bonus Poker. They made most of them 6/5 that I won't touch and a couple of 7/5s, but those are at the bars where the buttons don't work due to spilled drinks. Very poor vp machine maintenance in general. I don't think it is a priority.

Lately it's been straight on donating vs. gambling. In December I threw good money after bad but I got lucky and hit a couple nice hands that gave me my money back, which I promptly cashed out and walked.

I made the same comment regarding new IGT machines installed at the Riviera (now Monarch) casino in Black Hawk Colorado. They pay table on DDB quarters actually improved from 9/5 to 9/6, but the overall payouts went down. The new machines must have different chip sets installed.

Been like that for a few years now around these parts, seems almost everyone hit the same exact losing streak at about the same time. I'd say there is zero chance any casino is cheating, every single RNG program the machines have have been approved sealed and taped by the state gaming commission. Now one might argue that those programs sure don't deliver like they used to but whose fault would that be? In all seriousness I don't know what to make of it all because the paytables haven't changed a bit but the price of playing has sure gone up. I played some of the new machines Harrah's put in here and it's no different, still sucks. The vp machines at Harrahs went sour a few years back, they were the same machines but all of the sudden they developed bad attitudes, now they're all gone and have been replaced with a newer version of the same old crap. I can still find good vp but I have to drive a lot farther.

Where do you play now? I had been playing a lot at the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana which had 9/6 Jacks or Better and 9/7 TDB. I had a good run for several years but two years ago they pulled all the old machines and replaced them with new ones which also had much lower pay tables. Then, Horseshoe Cincinnati opened in March 2013. Up until December of 2013, Cincinnati had NSU Deuces Wild and 9/6 Jacks or better. In late December they reduced the pay tables radically making them unplayable. Like you, I may have to travel further to play better machines.
