So far so good for 2014
Only the second outing this year at Mohegan Sun. So far I am sticking to my play of lower denomination machines and waiting them out as best I can. After nearly 8 hours of back and forth ( I was quite happy with that), I caught 5 Aces on the 5 cent Multi-Strike machine. The good part is I not only caught the bottom line, but the 2nd line, and the top line too with the 8 multiplier!!!! Sorry no pics. This was on the Double Bonus Deuces Wild game which is my current favorite. 20/9 paytable so pretty good. A little under a hand pay too!!! Hope 2014 is fortunate for all. Health first....vp next...

Way to go O, I'll take all the "just under hand pays" that I can get.

We know lots of people who play low denomination VP and do really well. Like all VP the key is timing and sometimes staying in long enough for the awesome hand to hit. Low denomination allows you to do just that.

Yes, LL, we do, also, know lots of people who play low denom. Including us! I love to start small, for fun, ya know, to get a "feel".....but, for our gambling money, it just always seems to us if you aren't playing at least a $1 max bet for a $5 bet in VP, your going to lose money. It's HARD to win, but our feeling is one CAN'T win unless you play for at least that much money. The bottom feeding is fun. Only.

A frequent player we know plays 2x5 - 5¢ VP for hours while her husband is playing for big bucks poker. Loved her RF for $200 our last trip. She was so excited and immediately cashed out and put another $20 in.
Since we have access to some excellent 5¢ multi-hand machines we often start with 20-25 and I frequently move to 40-50 hands if my timing is going well. While the big hits are less frequent than playing higher denominations getting 3, 4, 5 quad deuces or RF is still awesome! You just have to accept the difference. We also know several players who play 100x1 and another who is playing 100x5 for hours at a time. It all relative.

Good for you! Never saw a 5 cent Multi-Strike machine at Mohegan Sun. Only 25 cents. Where is this machine? Thanks.

It's 25 cents per line. Most multistrike players play 4 lines.

There are two machines. You can play as little as 5 cents, but that would be only one line. It will cost 20 cents at least to play all 4. Most of the games in the machine pay the correct amount for the Royal with 5 in per line, but the machine allows bets of up to 10 units per line.
One machine is located in the old poker room. The casino calls it the Mike section. It is in the earth casino just to the right after you go up the 3 marble steps.
The other machine is in the Sky Casino. Not far from the Cabaret theater. It is in a vp section and near a bar. There is a high roller section up above from the machine area. If you are walking down the mall from the earth casino, it will be on the right in with other vp machines and past the stores. There are also a number of quarter Multi-Strike machines. The nickel machine has the option of quarters or dollars too.
Just a quick warning. These machines are extremely streaky. You can end up with a hand pay even on nickel games or get smoked fast like what just happened to me last night. That is bacause whenever I got to line 3 or 4, I rarely got dealt or drew any good cards. If that happens, you can always go back to playing it like a one line game. The games in there are all in the 98-99% range which is great for a nickel machine. They pay no momentum points though, but will earn you tier status points.
