I like break even hands but only sometimes!

Post by Eduardo »

Like getting jacks or better on a deal in Jacks or better. As long as I hold the pair I will at least break even and could win more! But it is so hard to throw away such as a 2 pair in Double Bonus that will break even at least no matter what in order to try for a quad (4 of a kind). But holding the two pair you can also get a full house but then you don't even have a chance at quad. It makes me sad either way. Do you also have this conflict?

Have Faith Eduardo...have Faith and the Truth will set you Free!.  By the way, in 10/7 Double Bonus, you do not throw away two pair to go for quads...not even Aces.  The 10-coin payback on Full Houses tips the scales away from holding just the Aces.

What conflict? I only throw away two pair in DB for aces. The chances of hitting a quad are 1 in 360. The chances of hitting a FH are 1 in 12. But, the big reason is the ER is higher holding two pair. Nothing else matters. The key to winning in VP is to focus on overall play and not each hand. It takes a lot of stress out of the play as well.

Eduardo, Play the Super Double Double Bonus game in the Super Triple Play family shown on this site.

Then you can always keep just one high pair when you are dealt two pair with at least one pair of jacks or better.  You will have the excitement of trying for high-paying quads AND your conscience will be clear (both MikeA and Shadowman will approve of this play since the exceptionally high payout for quads with and without a kicker will make it worth it in the long run).

Obviously, if one of the two pairs are aces then that is the pair to keep.  If there are two pairs of jacks, queens, or kings, you can keep whichever is your favorite of the moment.

Super Double Double I have not practiced much on but maybe i will try again after i play some more regular Single Double (is that right?  ) Bonus. You just made my life more complicated! Shadowman that is interesting maybe I was thinking wrong on that play any way but I do like the quad chance sometimes any way. But yes of course on Aces you must try!Thank you as always!
