How fast ARE you???

Post by DaBurglar »

I have timed myself playing certain games/machines, to see just how many hands I actually could play per hour if I was NOT concerned with keeping detailed records.....I first had to find games on machines that were not malfunctioning or had "sticky" buttons, and where I felt most comfortable......I chose two machines, one at Resorts (B/P  8/5 tabletop)   and one at Caesars AC (one of the new server based games, that are half tabletop and half upright,  DDB 9/5)Since Bonus Poker is easier to play I expected it to be faster, but in the end there was not much difference......when I play as fast as I possibly can, I can achieve the following hands per hour rate of play:B/P 8/5    1,187 hands per hourDDB 9/5  1,171 hands per hourOne thing, those "new" server based machines at caesars have REALLY hard buttons that do not depress easily or very deep, so that it is like slapping or hitting a friggin brick repeatedly!    Hello carpal tunnel "vision"......

Probably about 1,000. Any more than that and I will make mistakes. Sometimes, a held card will disappear if you hit draw too fast also. ( Old machines). You are right about carpal tunnel. I have to use an arthritis cream. The newer machines are brutal in that regard and touching the screen just isn't comfortable for any lenght of time.

I would suspect that the hard buttons on the new machines are just because they are new.

im there with you burglar, i'm at about 1200 hands per hour on a machine with good buttons.

optimal performance and comfort for me are the slant tops with approx 2x2 buttons.

my worst for maneuverability / comfort are the flat top bar machines...

I have all of you beat.

4,397 hands per hour. While heavily intoxicated. Playing 100 play.

How long was your "sample"? 5 minutes? 15 minutes? a full hour? The latter would be very impressive. When I bother to try, I think I am about 1000/hr on Bonus maybe a little lower on a five minute test. In reality though I'm okay with playing a lot slower than that. But I'll probably try another speed test at Hollywood St. Louis next time; it's been awhile.

And you are right about the new CET machines, they are bad for speed purposes. They don't depress well at all. I really don't understand why the new design choice was made, I can't think of one positive about the new units' design.

play (60 minutes), they are not extrapolations where I played 15 minutes and then
multiplied by 4.Its easy to get a straight figure, true....all you do
is play balls-to -the wall  as fast as you can without being full of
errors for an hour, noting
the start and finish time of course;  I simply set my cellphone's timer utility to ring after 60 minutes to alert me my time was up.......then when you are done,
calculate or figure out your total coin in and then figure out how many
hands that represents and VOILA!    No need to try and count or have
someone count as you play along!     Of course, you could just play for as long as you can stand it (or your money lasts lol)  and then go back and figure the per hour rate from that, but that will not be your  true "MAX" per hour effort because, if you calculate your hourly rate from a 3 or 4 hour session, it stands to reason your last hour or two will be slower than your first hour simply from fatigue or muscles soreness, eyestrain or cramps.   (Note:   On the other hand, some players need to "warm up" and dont hit their groove of playing as fast and as accurate as possible until after a certain amount of time passess.....)My hourly best  for Bonus poker
was derived from a 60 minute session on a Resorts-AC machine:   My total coin in betting max credits @ 25 cents was  $1,483.75.   Please note, because of the nature of RESORTS-AC's system, I had to get this figure from the players booth, and it took a few minutes because the clerk was not exactly certain what I was asking for or why, so I kinda had to  walk (and talk) her through getting me the info I needed, but I made it easy on both of us by making sure I did this on a day where I had NO OTHER action on my account (i.e.  I did  this right after breakfast  lol!)   The Caesars info is easy because you can calculate your coin in straight from your point total which is clearly visible at all times and non-mysterious!   1171 hands of 25 cent  9/5  DDB is  $1463.75  coin in, but this is displayed in Caesars "Tier Points", so at $10 coin in equaling 1 tier point (unless you are playing a "full pay" game like 9/6 JOB in which case caesars hits your with $50 coin in for 1 tier point)  my players' card point stats showed 146 tier ponts, plus change.   again.....Voila
