Should I be enamored by 4k Joker Poker?
My casino just added 4k 5oak Joker Poker to my 10 handed STP machines. Prior it was 1k 5oak, 4k RF. I decided to play 10 handed quarters and while I find JP to be somewhat streaky and did not hit 5oad I found that I got good play and had several opportunities on good multipliers where I almost hit 5oak multiple times. BTW, the 4OAK's on good multipliers really help extend play.
I was thinking of adding it as a post hand pay strategy for when I'm still wanting to play (tweaking as I refer to it) but want to hold onto my winnings. Say take 800 bucks, play quarters and basically wear myself out. Lose the 800, then I'm done.
Does anyone know the odds on hitting the 5oak on this game? BTW, I'm talking about 10 handed STP JP with the 4000K 5OAK.

roveer that version, I'm sure you know, is refered to AC Joker poker. There are quite a few people here who enjoy playing it; I am one of them. I've never seen AC Joker poker offered on STP. I've been dealt quads a bunch of times and once I hit 5oak on 3 of the hands. An elderly woman was playing next to me once and she was dealt natural royal but alas, it only pays 500 credits for a natural royal. She was playing 10 hands though so she still got a hand pay but $10,000.00 doled out to you is obviously better than $1,250.00.

It technically pays better than 8/5 DDB by 0.4%, but it is a real pain in the ass to play properly. Quints will appear every 10,994 hands on average and return a whopping 7.3% to the game. So the game returns about 90% without 5 of a kind.
But I must reiterate, the strategy is a pain in the ass. Are you ready to make holds like this?
I was "cheating" on my phone constantly while trying to play this. The progressive was near 100.8% in that pic, but also variance hell a lot worse than DDB.
Edit: And one other thing make sure the pay table looks exactly like this except with a 500 credit royal with a max bet. If the straight pays 15, stay the hell away!

So, at its best, i.e., with a straight paying four for one, it's a 97.2% game, with very high variance!
Unless you can be extremely lucky, and be on the right side of the variance, it's pretty much a guaranteed loser.
I know I played it a bit in Atlantic City several years ago, and lost big time. Then, I did some research on the game and found out why.
Now, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

Yeah that pic is from my local casino, Hollywood St. Louis the last time I played there in December. It's their best paying bartop, but it really kicked my butt. If the progressive gets that high again, I may still stay away and play the much lower variance 35/8/5 Bonus (99.66%) instead.

Wow.. Yeah, that would take some mental reprogramming from the games I usually play, but then again, once you get it down, then you have it. I played a JP autohold at Trop once a while back and was pretty amazed at some of the holds it was giving me.
