Interesting Day
I'm mostly a recreational player and often go a long time in between visits. Comps at the local casino are good so I've been there more often (plus I won on the first two occasions). My loss limit is $500, soon as I hit that I'm gone for a number of years
At this casino there is a bank of 12 machines that have multiple games, variations of video poker and keno. This is one of the least popular spots and it is rare to find more than 1-2 players there. After two winning sessions I had about eight losing ones and also noticed during that entire time that only one player had a win over $250.
This time I went on a week day and noticed that the crowds were very thin. Curiously, there were 8-9 players at the video poker/keno machines (only one was playing Keno).
The play followed the usual trend, ahead a few dollars and then a steady drop without any hands better than a full house. In the middle of this I drew 4 hands to a Royal. Having seen that a number of times before I quickly pressed the button and was shocked to hit the Royal (always happens when I least expect it).
After a little break I switched to the other side of the bank of machines to play a little more. Within 10 minutes the lady to the left of me hits a Royal. Shortly after that someone wins over $8,000 on a Keno machine, then another player wins over $500 twice in a row on another Keno machine. The casino announces jackpots and they usually are spaced hours apart. Today they were coming every 15-20 minutes.
While I'm sitting next to the lady who drew a Royal I get another 4 cards to a Royal. Again, I'm positive that it will lose and quickly draw. Royal again, and in the space of less than two hours! Got a little nervous, maybe there was something wrong with the machines today.
Left with a tidy profit several hours later. So far on rather infrequent play I've won four Royals and both times it was 2 Royals within 12 hours or less.

Welcome to the forum. And congratulations on your recent run of good luck. Its not uncommon for good fortune to come in bunches. I hit three royals in three sessions earlier this year. And like you said, they come when you least expect them. Again, congratulations on your royals and welcome to the forum.
BTW, which casino were you playing at? And what game or games ( job, ddb, dw ) were you playing?

vanadium, great news on your lucky day. Congrats and put together another multi-royal session. I'm curious too, where do you play?

Great going. When they are hot they are hot I guess no matter what the paytable is. Congrats.
