Casino Video Poker Etiquette

Post by jocker »

On Memorial Day my wife and I spent a few hours at Hollywood Casino in Joliet. We played our usual DDB bar tops. I have never been so annoyed with a fellow player like the person that sat down between my wife and I. We were the only two at the bar when he sat down. If you know what I mean , it was very quite and the concentration level was high. The soft background music made it even better. Well he started to play and every time, and I mean every time, he hit the deal button he would raise his hand in the air over his head and slap down on the deal button. This had gotten so startling that it would break thoughts of your next play, since you did not know when the next slap would hit the button/bar. My wife and I gave several dirty looks towards him but all were for nothing. He acted like he was the only person in the casino and had no consideration for others, let alone fellow VP players! How rude is that? I hope he reads this post!

He probably won't. The best thing to do when this happens is to move far enough away from this a**hole so that he will not continue to be a distraction. And sit next to each other next time so there is not a space available in between. There is really nothing else constructive you can do about it.

omg... we just spent 10 days in vegas and stayed at the gold coast..... I think every slap happy people were there... can't tell you how many times I got up and went somewhere else.. then you have the ones who hit the max button every time.... I was playing across from this guy who was actually slamming his fist down on the buttons... I was soooooooooo ready to crack him over the head I finally got up and walked away... with all the slot people around I am surprised they didn't say anything to him.... sure does ruin your game... maybe that's why I lost all the time and that's probably why all the buttons don't work...think?

Read this post. These idiots probably can't even read or begin to compose a logical statement and post it. I would love to have stickers made up simply stating...I'm an a..hole...and place them on their backs. We have a few at Mohegan Sun too, but the worst by far are the table game screamers ( both men and women ). No matter how far away you are from them you can still hear them. They go on and on for hours and the casino does nothing about it as long as they are losing their money.

I was in Hi-Limit at Hammond Horseshoe once when the guy two seats away from me took off his shoe, and beat the glass on the front of the machine until it shattered. The staff carted him away, cleaned up the mess, and expressed appologies to everyone around.

After that, when I see a 'button-slammer', I always think - could be worse.

And then there is the couple that takes up two machines with only one playing while the other one watches and gives anyone within earshot a play by play. Maybe not quite as rude but definitely distracting. These type also like to stop and high five one another any time they get a breakeven hand or better. Again, the only thing you can do is move.

This past weekend I was in Tunica and a woman was playing next to me and she was a "gum cracker." After several minutes I politely asked her to stop and, much to my surprise, she did.

I was not in Joliet,IL this Memorial Day weekend and I've never played the bartop games there either.

Kill them with kindness is my motto.

lol, Once a guy playing right behind me punched straight through the monitor. Then he got up from his chair and kicked out the bottom glass panel. Cussing all through it. Oddly I got some enjoyment out of it as it was what I wanted to do

Been there, tried that, it usually doesn't work for me. A number of years ago, I had a button slammer and also a BO special playing right next to me. I really didn't want to leave my machine which was fairly hot at the time. Luckily, I had run into some old college buddies that night up there who were there for a show and beer. Quietly called one on the cell and asked them to come be my cheering section for a couple of minutes. A couple of other patrons nearby knew my plan and kept quiet. Sure enough, beers in hand, they appeared and hovered right in back of me and the idiot. And I thought they were loud at school! It worked and the idiot left after a minute. Luckily, no blows thrown. Once he was gone, we got a standing ovation from a few players and my buddies promptly left to return to whatever bar they came from in the casino.

I hate to point this out but was I the only one to take a good look at the title of this topic? I got a chuckle but not at jocker's expense.
