Mohegan Sun Trip

Post by olds442jetaway »

Back from a nice overnight trip with the Mrs. to Mohegan Sun. This time I avoided for the most part any draw poker games and stuck to the slowly disappearing Double Down Stud Deuces Wild games. The machines were kind to me and although I caught no dealt Royals or Deuces quads, I hit quite a few Wild Royals, Straight Flushes, and 5 of a kinds. Since I was playing mostly Martingale clone methods, some of the hits were with quite a few quarters in so the end result was quite positive.
The best part of the trip though was meeting up with Mr. and Mrs. Florida Phil. Super nice straight up people and fun to be with. Gave Florida Phil the grand mini tour on where the best paytables were and we all got to play a little one coin quarters on regular Deuces Wild. I didn't hit anything good, but it is sure cheaper than what I usually play. I'm sure Phil will post soon too share his experiences at Mohegan Sun. I think both liked the casino overall, but at this point, I'm not sure if the Deuces quads were kind to them since we went if different directions this morning and I had to get home to see about the folks, the cat, etc. Nice mini trip and really fun to meet up with some nice vp.com people as well.

olds,
Glad you and Mrs. had a good trip and met up with Phil. It exciting to meet fellow forum players. If we ever get that way again we'll try to meet up. We loved both Mohegan (favorite) and Foxwoods.

Sounds good LL. Sorry I couldn't hook up with DB too on the 16th, but the folks always come first. Things stable for now. If there is enough interest some day, in a mini vp.com meet and greet or mini convention, maybe I could speak to the concierge staff or management and arrange some discounts and activities. Kinda have a full plate for now with the folks etc., but I think this is something that would be fun and Mohegan certainly has the facilities to do this. They are constantly hosting conventions of various types from the NJ state troopers to Dunkin Donuts. Hmmmm...maybe they should have booked those at the same time. On the other hand, I think the local PD has the monopoly on coffee and donuts and their other hand usually has a cell phone in it while they are driving the patrol car.

Olds,
It's been a few years since I've made the trip down from Northern New England to CT, so I'm planning a trip in the fall.
I know a lot has changed with the players club in regards to VP at Mohegan Sun since my last visit, so I'll be interested to see what kind of room offers, and points towards the gas station a low rolling VP player like myself can get these days?If all goes well I hope to make a few more over night trips before the end of the year?
So If you get enough interest for that mini vp.com meet and greet, sign me up!

Stay in touch on the forum with the gang. Hope you can make it down here. Yes, lots has changed and unfortunately not for the better as far as pointa are concerned. About 300 or so vp machines do not pay points at all and of course they are the ones with the 99% paytables. As to the rest of them, it now requires nearly 500 bucks to be cycled through to earn 1 point or Momentum Dollar as they are now called. Those are the ones that you can use for gas. The new system is so complicated that they had to have a seminar to explain it. Most of the employees do not understand it either. I have it all memorized, but it was not an easy task.
The good news is there are more and more 99% machines available with multiple games in them and begin at the quarter level. Those are all that I play. I don't earn points for those, but I do earn something called Status Points. If you have about 3 hours and a notebook with 30 pages or so, I could explain it.
