Wife's birthday vp surprise

Post by olds442jetaway »

Had a nice trip to Mohegan Sun for the wife's birthday. After not doing much on DDB, she tried a Multi-Streak nickel machine and was lucky enough to catch on TDB four 2's with a 4 and a 4 multiplier for 8,000 nickels. I got very lucky too on Double Down Stud Deuces Wild and was dealt 4 deuces with a 10 quarter bet before doubling and a nice 2,000 dollar hand pay. The seafood was very good at the Summer Shack especially since it was comped and our room was on the house too. Had perfect weather to boot. . Had a minor glitch on the way home which worked out OK. After filling up at the Mohegan Sun Mobil also on the house on the way home, the battery decided to die just at that moment. Luckily, a Mohegan maintenance truck was around with a built in jumper and off we were and made it home OK. I shot over to NAPA auto parts and put the new battery in with no problems. Good thing because my super dedicated teacher wife decided to go back to the classroom and work even though she had the day off today.

Congrats to you and your wife on your big hits. What type of seafood did you get at the Summer Shack? Down south we love our crab legs and raw oysters. My wife used to teach as well. Its nice to be married to a teacher. They keep guys like you and me in line.

I think I make up for the entire class of 1st graders. . We had Gulf shrimp and sea scallops. The southern style cornbread was also very good as was the big Stella Draft. The buffet at Mohegan has clams and oysters on the half shell as well as peel your own shrimp out on ice all the time. My mom is from Southwestern Virginia, so we had lots of good southern cooking growing up. Thanks for the congrats. I know it is only a matter of time before these few old Double Down Stud machines disappear. They are still my favorite. I like to be paid like a Royal for hitting dealt deuces quads.    If you folks ever make it up to Mohegan, as I have said with some of the rest of the gang, be sure to look me up. Nice to meet some of the vp gang and then you find out what a small world it really is and sometimes have other stuff in common.

We may make it there some day. The closest we have been is either Atlantic City or the Boston / Martha's Vineyard area. I am not not quite sure geographically where Mohegan is located.

As far as Southern cooking is concerned, when we have our Sunday family dinners, beans and cornbread and when we can find them fresh turnip greens can often be found on the table.

Our Sunday dinners usually had soup beans too. We used to flip for the one piece of bacon or pork in there. Hee hee. Mohegan Sun is 2 or 3 hours south of Boston and about 20 minutes from the coast. It is located in a beautiful somewhat rural area. It is also only about 20 minutes from Foxwoods. Both are in Ct, but located pretty close to Rhode Island. I prefer Mohegan Sun, but both casinos have lots of vp and are a short drive from Mystic Seaport which is worth seeing and can take an entire day itself to see everything. Both Bradley International Airport in Hartford and Green International Airport in Providence are a little less than an hours drive away. There is also high speed ferry service from Long Island Ny. I think that is what Florida Phil and the Mrs. used since they had a stop in Long Island anyway. Hey, Mohegan should up my comps for this plug...Oh well, nice thought anyway. Take care see you on the forum...Olds...

Congratulations on the super hits! Thanks to both of your wives and all those who join the teaching "calling". After 41 years it still keeps me going watching my new future teachers who are going to teach our future generations.

We stayed in Mystic on our Boston/Cape Cod trip last year and we highly recommend Mystic as a base for Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. Mystic has its own historical appeal and charm.
