Holding a lone joker
Back from another Mohegan Sun trip and had another unusual completed hand. On the trip before this which I think I posted about somewhere else, I held a lone joker on Joker Kings and pulled a Wild Royal. Decent paytable of 17/7 which can be found at Mohegan and the correct higher amount for the Royal with 5 in. This trip I also held a lone Joker and pulled 5 of a kind. The cards I tossed were the 6 with the joker on the first trip and a 7 with the joker on this trip. I know the math is with keeping those low cards with the joker on this game, but I just can't do it. Anyway, it worked out on both of the last 2 trips. I haven't checked to see what the penalty is long term for doing this, but I don't think it can be much. Neither session was a winning one, but those hands helped out a lot.

Way to go olds. Is that NJ Joker Poker that you were playing? 5 of a kind is the big palooka on that game.

Probably not. 17/7 (quads/full house) usually refers to "Kings or Better" where quints are 200 for 1. I've never seen "AC" Joker Poker be anything other than 16/8 for quads/full house.
And not holding W7 is a bigger error than I would have guessed. With minimal penalties involved, W7 is 5.8 cents better at quarters or 23.2 cents at dollars than wild only. The relative error to the optimal play is 3.17%, anything under 5% is considered a "small" error.
Making quads while holding a different rank is always fun though. I did it in KC on the morning of the 4th of the July this year. Too bad it was worth $5. lol
