Mohegan Sun Trip
Just back this afternoon from an overnight. Tried to live up to my new nickname coined by Tedlark..." The Comeback Kid. " Well I pulled it off again but just barely.
I started out playing Double Down Stud Bonus Deuces Wild hoping for a big hit up front. That didn't happen so several hours later and minus 300 bucks I decided to play a few more hours using Fla Phil's method. Started out not too bad. Lots of back and forth and I did catch Deuces quads but unfortunately with one coin in. I was just not hitting on those subsequent max bet hands so I decided to keep track of the numbers. I think I played the correct way by waiting for a one coin hit of 4 or more then playing 5 quarters. After dropping another hundred, I decided to make my one coin bet 5 quarters and my max bet the machine max of 25 quarters after a hit of 4 or more at the 5 quarter level. Making a short story longer, I went 23 consecutive tries at max bet after a hit of 4 or more times my initial bet and got absolutely nothing. In other words, after 23 separate hits of 4 or more times my bet, I had 23 separate dud hands at max bet.
That pretty much finished off my budget for the day except my going home gas money and my emergency hundred dollar bill I only use when I get one of those last minute feelings of a comeback. Caught a good nap upstairs, some really good coffee and bagel, nice chat with the concierge folks and gave it one more try with 45 minutes of play time left.
Much to my surprise the lone Multi Strike game with the nickel option was open. This machine lets you play nickels or quarters and up to ten units bet per line. With only the hundred left, I opted for the nickel game which still costs two bucks a bet. This machine also has good paytables one being 9/6 for TDB. I knew I needed close to a home run to get my 700- plus back and no time to do it.
I went back and forth for awhile then pretty much straight down. I was on my next to the last bet. I got dealt 3 Aces on the second line after a small hit on the deal line. I held the Aces and was able to pull not only the 4th Ace, but a 2 to go with it. That made the payoff good for 16,000 nickels or 800 bucks. I played off the scraps and went home sixty five cents to the good. I'm glad at least I was again able to live up the new name Ted gave me.

Great story olds. You didn't drive the tollway back and toss that .65 into the basket? The ONLY time I have ever played Multi-Strike in a casino was about 6 years ago in Indiana and, it was also at the nickel level. I was playing TDB and low and behold I got quad aces with a kicker on the top line for 40,000 credits. I was sitting between two women (sorry no billyjoe type story here) and when I hit it they both just had a look of disgust on their faces. Especially because I had only been playing the machine for about 5 minutes. Congrats again.

Congrats! I too won at that lone Multi Strike game at the end of the row! I waited 3 hrs last time for it to become available and then it let me play for 4 hours! Finally leaving with a bit over 1000. Could not believe it just kept letting me play! Of course there were times before that weren't as lucky! ps... i dont care for the fact that you do not get points for playing poker slots at Mohegan. Think it will be time to go to Green Valley Resort soon!

Thanks Ted and great hit on your end too some years ago. I've somehow still got that BJ tattooless lass on my mind. I wonder how her spaghetti sauce recipe is. Probably not too important to BJ. Funny, that was one of the things I considered years ago when the Mrs. and I were dating. Her sauce is a home run though with school and all not a lot of time to make it nowdays.

That no points issue really bothers me too, but with so many obligations at home with the folks etc., I have to play pretty close to home for now. Those machines do give status points, but unfortunately they cannot be spent. Foxwoods paytables in general are much worse than Mohegan, so at least for now, Mohegan will remain my home base.

Congrats olds on the Multistrike hit. Must be a great feeling on the way home coming out even from a terrible session.
Baseball scenario wise, you are down to your final strike with two outs, down by 3 with two runners on. The casino sends out its closer, and you crush a ball over the wall this time around. The casino blows the save and you force extra innings with the outcome of the game being determined by the next time you play.

I hope the casino doesn't bring Mariano Rivera out of retirement and hire him as their closer. In that case, I will just hand the casino my money.

Well, you just have to be careful what type of women you sit next to, Ted. I usually get a kiss..

You can actually MAKE spaghetti sauce ?
