One Weird Royal

Post by jocker »

I was playing triple play .25 the other day and my usual game is DDB. Well things were getting a little stale in the wins column, so I thought a switch of games might turn the tide. I hit MORE GAMES button and selected Deuces Wild for a couple hands. My first dealt hand revealed 3c,7h,9s,Kd,&Ad. Of course no deuces! So I took the bold step and held the Kd and Ad and hit deal-- Bang! The Td, Jd, & Qd fall right in place for the natural royal. The weird thing about this is, would I have gotten those same cards if I kept playing ddb and not switched games? Did those 2 seconds to switch games make all the difference in the cards? By the way, in my five years of vp, this was my first casino natural royal. The ice is BROKEN, finally!!!!!!!!!!

The modern VP machines have their RNG running constantly, so the answer is probably "no", you would not have gotten the same cards.

Of course, that is not to say that the random selection of those key cards may not have come around. Anything is possible, and is not dependent on game selection or denomination.

Billyjoe is the correct theoretical answer, but I have to interject a very weird thing I have continued to experience playing in AC on Non-server IGT machines (both the tabletop and upright styles).   ALMOST everytime (about 80%) when I am running really bad at a game like DDB or BP, and I switch over to another game on the same machine, within 5 minutes (not a certain number of hands mind you but certain amount of TIME), an extremely good hand, like quads just inevitably pops up ...... I'm neither imagining nor projecting this, I have kept track and it is uncanny.Still, 80% is NOT 100%, and the amount I have played in AC allows for just about ANY scenario to paint itself into some sort of light......but I know where the original poster is coming from.

Same here. Usually not enough to get even on that machine, but a really good hit of some sort. I find this especially true when switching to Deuces Wild and it is usually a 5 of a kind or wild royal.

As I said, anything can happen.

As for Olds, my suggestion would be to switch to DW earlier.

Congrats on your first casino royal being from a mathematically incorrect play!

Thanks! You are absolutely correct but sometimes you got to go with a feeling and maybe the time it took thinking about my play, changed the cards in my favor. The game, VP still has a lot of luck evolved along with perfect skill and knowledge of the games played!

Congratulations on your RF. I can't tell you how many times a strong feeling or premonition has paid off big for me in life. When "strong" feelings come I usually listen. You have to learn when "the feeling is not a wish".    So, while I firmly believe in premonitions or strong feelings impacting your decisions, in video poker your correct play is the best mathematical move but "perfect timing" is even better.
