Anyone ever hit something like this?

Anyone ever hit something like this?

Post by olds442jetaway »

This isn't recent history, but I just happened to think of it. Many years ago while playing job, I hit a quad followed by a straight flush. It never happened again. This isn't important or anything, but I was just wondering if anyone ever hit the same thing. The probability of it happening is huge.

I had a straight flush immediately after a RF. Also had 5oak (playing OEJs) after a RF.

WOW! I guess Florida Phil is right. In video poker, anything can and will happen.

Actually yes I remember it quite well...it wasn't exactly like your situation but close....it was the day of the Michigan Ohio state football game in 2005... I was all depressed as a Michigan fan since the bucks had just beaten us like they usually do and I was playing $1 DDB on a coin machine in watersmeet mi. This was an old machine that required a hand pay for anything over 400 and it had the double up option. I got 4 queens doubled it up and won. While I was waiting for my 500 hand pay I put a 20 in the machine next to me and on the second hand got a straight flush A 2 3 4 5 of heart s dealt to me...doubled that up and won again.

True story, 2 years while playing $2 denom TDB I got on an unbelievable run playing the same machine. I hit 2 small quads for $500 each then hit quad 4's for $800 a few hands later I hit quad K's for another $500, not a bad run but the real fireworks hadn't started yet. I kept hitting all kinds of small hands and was still gaining credits when I drew 4 to the royal, all I needed was the J of spades, hit the button and there it was. It took about 20 minutes to get paid and the machine reset, 5 hands later I was looking at the same exact thing, 4 to the royal off the draw, all I needed was the J of spades. There was a few folks watching me play and I turned around and said "what are the chances" I came out of my seat when the J of spades popped up for another $8K jackpot. Quite a night, the next couple of months of my play I couldn't hit a darn thing. I believe it's been 8 months since I stepped foot in a casino, not saying I've quit playing but I got tired of walking into the casinos and seeing that the pay tables had been lowered or they had put in newer style machines.

The most notable back-to-back I've had was quads. At McCarran of all places.

On my last trip to Vegas I was playing at the California (downtown) when I hit 4 aces for $1600 ($2 denom). While I was waiting for them to pay and reset my machine I moved to the next machine to the left. On the third hand I hit 4 3's with a kicker for $1600 (locking up the machine). The attendants came running out and said they had never seen one person lock up 2 machines side-by-side. I moved to the machine to the right of the original one and got 4 to a royal. I checked the board and the royal progressive for $2 was over $12k. I hit the button and didn't hit the royal, as usual, but I was satisfied with the two hits for a total of $3200 out of 4 hands.

Those are the days that keep us playing video poker.  I suppose the odds of having a great day are about the same as having a really terrible day, but it sure is more fun.   I've had unbelievable stuff happen; three $4,000 royals and one $1,000 royal in one day (Jacks),  one $4,000 royal plus three $800 quad aces in one afternoon (DDB), two $20 bills turned into $1,000 quad deuces on two consecutive days and all manner of weird happenings.  Haven't had all that many real straight flushes, they seem to be about as rare as royals for me.  "When you're hot your hot, when you're not you're not!"

I don't remember ever having back to back big wins with either a royal or a 4 of a kind. Just getting a win at all 2 times in a row is exciting to me.

Heading out shortly to get my " free " 40k mini crock pot set. I will take any of the hits posted about below. That would put at least a dent the size of a bee bee in the net result for the 2014 year.
